I'll say it once and I'll say it again: this is the only Charles Dickens book that I have read that I have liked. To me it is pretty much a perfect piece of literature. This is the second time that I have read this book, and I plan on making it an annual tradition. This story speaks so well as to what the holidays are really all about.

First off, my favorite Christmas movie is A Muppets Christmas Carol. I had to give Dicken's version a try, and while it didn't quite measure up (kidding), it is a profound book that cements what Christmas should be for the secular crowd. The Muppets brilliantly passed along this message to a younger crowd, that we should find joy in a loving community around us. In the words of the Muppets, wherever you find love, it feels like Christmas!

I've not read any Charles Dickens books before now and the reviews I've had have been mixed but I really enjoyed this.

⚠️TW: ghosts, death

Ebenezer Scrooge, a lonely, tempestous and miserable old man lives alone in a big house, sitting on all his money and is visited by 3 ghosts all in one night. They come to remind him, to warn him, to show him what his actions or inaction could do to certain people in his life.

This story is unlike so many others and I think sets the scene for a lot of traditional Christmas values. Being with family and loved ones, turkey dinner and eating lots of food and being kind to one another. If only every story had this ending, this epiphany almost.

Full of laughter, woe and morals. I would highly recommend and plan to read more Dickens in the future ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"God bless us, everyone"
