I gave up on trying to read this for school when the author said, and i quote:
"The face has a dismal light about it, like a bad lobster in a dark cellar"

A classic.

I read this back in 2018 and was underwhelmed giving it 3 stars. I still agree that the read itself isn't fantastic, but there is no denying the power and cultural impact of A Christmas Carol. When trying to think of stories that are more recreated, parodied, or referenced I can only think of Biblical stories, Romeo and Juliet, and The Odyssey as superiors. With how prevalent A Christmas Carol is in our culture (we all know the story and have likely seen several versions of it) the book itself is underwhelming in comparison. I'm bumping it up to 4 stars now due to it's importance to contributing to our Christmas traditions centuries later.

No christmas can be complete without it

A timeless classic

I must have seen a dozen movies including the Muppets version ( favorite of mine ). Had never read the original tale though. Well worth the time and may have made me less of the Scrooge I was before turning the first page.

A Christmas classic that makes one think about avarice, sacrifice and the ability to change the course of your life at any moment in time. Hard to read without picturing Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy!

I knew the story pretty well already even without even reading it ever, but I enjoyed it soooo much! It is especially perfect just a couple days before Christmas AND even better is listening to it with Tim Curry delighting my eardrums.
