"A black yearning sun is braided into the strandsPablo Neruda weaves his words into seamless tapestries of nature. His poems are quite like Virgina Woolf's style but is accentuated with his own choppy rhythm. I actually don't like the first half of the poems since they could be nonsensical sometimes but I guess, this is Neruda's style. However, the latter half were my absolute favorites and especially the Song of Despair. I seldom read poetry since I think its like an intimate diary of an author and sometimes I can't just appreciate it. This book also features simple sketches of a women's profile and sometimes couples making love.
of your black mane, when you stretch your arms.
You play with the sun as with a little brook
and it leaves two dark pools in your eyes." -Poem XIX, Girl Light and Tawny
P.S. I only read this book since it was read by a YA character, I actually forgot who he/she is and from what book XD
“I want To do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.”
“I am no longer in love with her, that's certain, but maybe I love her. Love is so short, forgetting is so long.”
“And I watch my words from a long way off.
They are more yours than mine.
They climb on my old suffering like ivy.”
“You swallowed everything, like distance. Like the sea, like time. In you everything sank!”

• He ido marcando
• Aquí te amo
• Puedo escribir los versos esta noche
