4.5 i loved all the main characters and the plot in general was amazing.

You know it's a really good book when you just couldn't put it down ... and you'll know it's a great one when you chose to read more chapters than catch up on sleep that you've missed for days. Yeah, it's that good. *sigh*

Summer has gone to university in the hopes of finally being with her stepbrother. After they spent one night together she is sure he is the one. But running after him got her heart broken... She meets Caden Banks, her stepbrother's enemy who seems to have taken a shine to helping her more than once.
Soon Summer begins to see Caden in a different light, and wonders if she has been pining over the wrong man.

***Thank you to TRSOR for an arc to review***

I am such a huge fan of Tijan and being able to receive an arc of this made me so excited! This book though stole my heart and left me utterly winded and paralysed.

Summer: God, my heart nearly broke for her. She thought she loved Kevin and that he had feelings for her after they had a night together when in reality he was a giant ass. And yet she still defended him or looked out for him as she placed him on a pedestal as being the perfect man.

Caden: Sweet Lord book boyfriend alert!!! He is hard ass and scary but yet so wonderfully sweet. Typical tall alpha adorned with gorgeous tattoos with the cocky demeanor to top him all off. Their relationship is a torturous slow burner building from a great reliant friendship and the chemistry between the pair is agonizing!

What's fantastic is the different stories of love that is spread across the pages. Their is heartbreak and undeniably brilliant terrifying love and the emotions and fears that comes with it all. It's not a simple romance story line but complicated with the intensity of all the memories and feelings of the characters. I was sucked into their world and their pain and felt their fears as much as their happiness.

Kevin: He is Summer's stepbrother who she thinks she loves. We don't get too much of an insight into his real persona but what's interesting is how he is depicted to the reader. I found myself constantly trying to defend his actions until ultimately I realised - he really is a nasty piece of work!

Overall:

Best work from Tijan so far. An absolute whirlwind of emotion and drama with a romance that will leave you haunted and desperate for a love like it. A soul destroying story of poignancy and life altering moments.

YAY! One of my favorite author’s new book. Man, what a story and I absolutely loved it.

I really like the author writing style and her emotionally overcharged story, especially since she creates them without too much drama, kind of effortlessly.

So the story is basically a college romance with a couple of well placed twist and a bit more serious undertone to it. Ok, that just halfway true, its more complex than that.

First, we have a slightly conservative Summer, with her misdirected emotions and a more child like view of things. However you can feel that there is something more underneath it all. Fortunatley she gets a wake up call and starts to develope a more sassy, endearingly crazy and honest personality. Gets new friends and directions but her emotions still cause her headaches.
Then there is Caden. So far my fav character from Tijan was Mason, but Caden may have overthrown him. His is feared and respected by almost everybody on campus, but they also think that he is broody and distant. Not to mention sexy. In my opinion he was just more mature than others and he has his reasons to be. I liked that he doesn’t engage in their childis games and lives his life honestly.
One of the best things in the book is the relationship between Summer and Caden. I loved their banter and simple interactions. They create a bond that everybody wishes for.

“I’d settle for Hot Tits.” I glanced down at mine. “Maybe the positive reinforcement will help them grow.”

Beside the funny parts there are a more serious storyline to the book, too. This part is full of heavy and heartbreaking emotions and a little bit confusing, at least for me. I couldn’t agree with a couple of decisions the characters made. However I liked the outcome, its a really good book. One last thing, I think there is still potential in the story. I feel not everything got resolved so I’m hoping for a second book, maybe?

If I'm totally honest, the writing in this book was pretty choppy and sometimes I didn't have any idea what was going on for few pages, but for the most part, I thought it was fantastic. Summer was super funny and strange (but likeable, all the same). Caden wasn't what I was expecting, in a good way. Everything thing was going swimmingly.

...Until it did this:

At about 75% things started to go off the rails. First there was a random POV switch because the author was too lazy to figure out how to tell us something that happened to Caden from Summer's point of view. Then,
SpoilerSummer has a rando mental breakdown for dubious reasons.
Then, they do the I can't be with you for *~*<3REASONS<3*~* thing and I stopped thinking it was fantastic and started thinking it was kind of just like every other silly new adult book I've read. Honestly, it left me a little unsatisfied. Oh well.

Man I REALLY liked this book. I didnt start it until 4pm, which I knew meant it would be a book I had to put down and finish the next day, but instead I stayed up reading until 3am because I just couldn't put it down!
Great chemistry between the two MC's. Not a huge amount of smut, they have sex but he's not descriptive, which normally i wouldn't like but j was really digging these characters. I'm about to text my fellow reader friends to tell them to read this one. It is excellent :)

Not what I expected in a good way!

I went into this book blind (I didn't know what it was actually about, I just love reading Tijan's books) but oh my it was one I didn't want to put down!! I loved Summer's story and her personality! It was a great book that grabbed my heart and made me laugh a few times, definitely one to read!!

I love Tijan and this is one of my absolute favorites from her. Caden Banks is the ultimate book boyfriend and if you haven’t read this, stop what you’re doing and go read it. Read it right now. Summer is naïve, quirky and a little bit lost when she follows her stepbrother to college, hoping they’ll get together. She realizes pretty quickly that he’s a complete asshat, although she really should’ve known that already but naïve. She forms an unlikely friendship with broody loner Caden, to everyone’s surprise, including Caden himself. He’s the campus hottie all the girls want, drop-dead gorgeous and effortlessly cool, he manages to be charming despite his surliness.

Summer drew me in right away and it was fun watching them get to know one another but I especially loved watching Caden realize he was falling for her. Summer comes into her own in college, becoming independent and making new friends with Caden by her side. Then one day, she wakes up and realizes she’s falling for him, but can’t imagine he’d ever feel the same. I love everything about these characters and their story. I’ve read it more than once and will surely read it again because it’s just a great story with wonderful characters.

Anti-stepbrother

I enjoyed this book. Great character development and I enjoyed the story. I think it flowed a little weird at times but it was still a great read.
