A lovely read if a little lengthy. Probably could’ve been 150 pages shorter.

I loved this book. Julia Child led a fascinating life. This book takes you along on her adventurous life. Now, if only I could cook. At all.

This book was just a joy to read. I think I would have enjoyed being Julia Child's friend. She may have been a little too liberal for my taste, but she was "good people" and enjoyed life so much, how could you not have fun right along with her.

This is my Food for Thought book club's selection for June and July, and I could not get far at all (2% on the Kindle version). Ugh, very disappointing! I highly enjoyed [book My Life in France], so I expected to like this too, since it's about Julia Child. But no. The writing style was terrible and the amount of detail Spitz thought to put in just shut me down. I stopped reading this and picked up Salt, Sugar, and Fat instead.

An unabashed love letter, [b:Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child|13531538|Dearie The Remarkable Life of Julia Child|Bob Spitz|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1344371053s/13531538.jpg|19093212] chronicles the life and times of Julia Child. The book covers her childhood through her death and shows her transformation into an American icon. While there was an incredible amount of detail in the book, I found her life story fascinating and felt like her personality came through loud and clear. She clearly lived her life with the same gusto and enthusiasm she displayed in the kitchen. The author adored his subject and made the reader feel equally enamored of Julia Child. Her passion practically bubbled off of the pages and made you wish you'd had a chance to meet her. I enjoyed learning about her early life, her life overseas with Paul, and how she became a pioneer for tv cooking shows. For anyone who ever watched her on tv or is a fan of current food-related shows, this is one you'll want to check out. Bon appétit!

It's amazing how much Julia Child accomplished given that she really didn't start until she was in her thirties thanks primarily to the support and encouragement of her husband Paul.

This is a well written and entertaining biography of Julia Child. I loved her cooking shows but I didn't realize she had led such an interesting life.
