I have such a soft spot for complicated/prickly characters. Kazia had my attention from the first moment we met him and I was so excited to finally get to the book focused on him. I knew there was something more going on with him even from Vana's book and finally getting to peek behind the curtain was simultaneously so satisfying and heartbreaking. The way his parents are portrayed is so realistic to a specific type of abuser; what they're doing just doesn't affect them at all. They're not angry or vengeful or even insane. They're just doing what they're doing to further their own aims and they don't care who they hurt.

Lucian and Kazia's relationship was incredibly interesting. All the couples so far have at least been amicable with each other from the start if not outright warm so it was cool to see a couple that had longer to go before they could start to care about each other. It was such a treat to watch Lucien realize there was more beneath the surface and for Kazia to struggle with wanting to be closer to someone even though he knew he was risking so much.

I thought this was a fantastic end to the series. It was super fun to get all the couples in the same room and socializing even if it was only for a moment at the very end. I'm sad that the series is over because I had a really good time with it, but it was a beautiful finish!

The worst part of this book is that it ended and I don’t have infinite more to read from the author about these characters. I cannot say enough good things about it or the series!!

This is hands-down, the best book in the series and nothing could convince me otherwise lmao. I thought nothing could top Julien and Whisper’s story, because in my opinion, no subsequent book in the series has a better story than the first one. They all pale in comparison. But finally! I am so glad that this one actually managed to rise to the challenge.

All throughout, Lucien keeps making me laugh with his side comments because oh my God, he is very sassy. I did not expect that. I always thought that Lucien‘s book is going to be very serious because in the previous books he is imposing and all serious-like, but he actually makes me crack. In one scene, he was trying to be mad… while cradling a fluffy rat lmfao. I almost never make highlights on Kindle but I can’t help highlighting his one-liners cause they are noteworthy for me. Let’s not also forget to mention how his dragon is similarly funny and cute. I love how Tezurit is very smug about all the little things that she does and is very nosy. And Kazia is just so precious. I have always liked his very snarky personality in his brothers’ books and I have been looking forward to his story thinking his book will be entertaining because of said personality. I would have never thought that behind that snarky personality is a very tortured person, literally. I am happy to report that he got his very very happy ending.

This just wonderfully ties up everything in this series and I’m just now a bit sad to see it ending. I hope Tavia Lark would write more fantasy books/series since they’re becoming rare nowadays. I’m definitely looking forward to reading what comes after this.

Okay full transparency, the plot could’ve been boring and I still would’ve liked it because I am obsessed with Kazia. I’m a sucker for sopping wet poor little meow meows, and Kazia’s particular brand of tragic backstory makes me go absolutely feral. But, the plot was also really engaging, and I loved the final book the series the most (Again it might just be Kazia making me biased). But this was such a fun series and I had such a great time reading it. I definitely see myself rereading it in the future.

-I did find the start of their relationship pretty rushed
-wouldn’t Kazia have read the research and known for sure if immortality had been discovered?

Really enjoyed and happy to see how the series ended

I have such a hate/love relationship with Tavia Lark's books. It truly feels like every single novel is a combination of "very small tiny man with long hair is sad/hurt/abused and meets very tall/built/powerful man who rescues him and takes care of him and insta-fall in love". Which is fine, but if the relationship or the characters are not particularly lively then I immediately lose interest. I tried to read every single book in this series and I only enjoyed the first one and this one.

This one worked because the animosity at least could last for 50% of the story, even if the sudden trust, especially from Kazia was so bizarre. I think I would have enjoyed it more if Kazia had realized that Lucien was free and thus Lucian was not hurting him, or if he had kept his grail secret for longer. Or if the falling in love had happened after the two decided to work together for a common goal instead of their love/lust overriding everything else.
Still, it was enjoyable to see Kazia so competent, and I loved the rats, and Lucien was pretty funny, so this is one of the Tavia Lark's I liked reading.
