This book was such a great read! It was the perfect book after stressful finals at school. It was funny, futuristic, and also had some sci-fi and time travel. I loved it so much. I will probably read it again a few times!

For a short children's book, this one seemed packed! I think that many kids would enjoy this because it has non-stop action and sci-fi/time travel elements that will appeal to their imaginations. I have to confess that I got slightly confused, mostly because timey-wimey stuff can be confusing. Other than that I loved that this book centered around two cousins who were being raised by their grandma. I don't think that there are enough books, even children's books, that feature strong friendships. I also felt seen insofar as the cousins-like-siblings relationship was portrayed. The book also has very positive messaging about not letting bullies prevent you from taking a leap of opportunity; finding a purpose for your talents that help others rather than just aggrandize you; and striving to love and understand each other, even or especially when, we're jealous.

P.S. I'm excited to have "found" the author Lamar Giles and will probably try reading some of his other books.

Interesting concept of time travel and freezing time. Really enjoyed the references to all the ‘jobs’ that time has (Father Time, am, pm, witching hour, bed time, etc.) Felt the story was a bit drawn out and what exactly Otto needs to do to save his cousin the future was a bit confusing.

This book was a fun romp! When it started, I was a bit confused. It almost felt like this was a second book in a series and I had missed the first. The two protagonists are written as established adventurers and the author references other adventures they have been a part of, even though they aren't mentioned elsewhere (actually, this turned my son off to reading this book, though I am now going to encourage him to give it another try). After a little bit though, the characters became clear and the conflict, which included some punny and wry word play, was fun. This became a 4 star read for me in the last few chapters, in which the story, otherwise mostly just fun, also became heartwarming and touching. I will eagerly read the next in the series and I'm looking forward to discussing this with our MS friends in June!

A fun, fast paced read! Put this on our your summer reading list, but don't wait until the last day of summer to read it! Highly recommended for grades 4 & up.

This took me a while to read because it is not my favorite type of book. However, there are a lot of great things about it. It reminds me a bit of The Phantom Tollbooth, and I liked the characters. It was particularly great that the boys were having an adventure and experiences that were fun and not focused solely on race. It’s a very appealing book and I hope it finds an audience!
