Um...the brother/sister thing reeks of Luke and Leia, but creepier. I like the world and dang do I like Jace, but the rest of it...hmmm. not sure.

In general the book is good. But when compared with her novels now you can tell she has improved in writing style and letting the book flow. As I love the series now it dies get better, but this isn't the best book in the Shadowhunter Chronicles by far in my opinion.

LOVE LOVE LOVE, shadowhunters are awesome. Jace and Clary would make a good couple but...yeah. I loved the story line and it's and new and interesting addition to paranormal romances. Major bombshells are dropped in the end and I can't wait to get book two. AMAZING!!!!

Clary's world explodes in a New York nightclub encounter with invisible Shadowhunters and menacing demons. Her mother's kidnapping unveils a hidden reality: the Shadow World, where these warriors safeguard humanity from Downworlders – vampires, werewolves, faeries, and more. As the story unravels, Clary confronts a web of deceit and discovers a shocking truth about her mother.

Cassandra Clare masterfully crafts a captivating world brimming with history. Shadowhunters, a blend of human and angel, stand against demons and Downworlders, each faction with intricate politics and motivations. From vampires to faeries, the narrative pulsates with action, romance, and immersive storytelling. Clare's vivid explanations seamlessly guide readers through this fantastical realm, ensuring they're hooked from start to finish.

I first read City of Bones as a teenager and the Mortal Instrument series quickly became one of my favorites. I’ve been meaning to reread the series because I never read the 5th or 6th books and it’s about damn time.

Something I think Cassandra Clare is really good at is character development. Jace is so damn sexy hahaha. He feels real and his background is heartbreaking. Clare creates tension between her characters which makes their relationships more interesting and believable, and I also think she is the queen of love triangles.

That being said, I do feel there are some parts of City of Bones that feel clumsy. Some of the dialogue is cheesy (and not particularly realistic for a bunch of 16/17 year olds) and how she introduces her world building felt like a history lesson at times rather than normal conversation.

I still love the series and I am so excited to reread the books.

This was alright, I feel that I went in expecting so much more because of the hype and it didn't fully deliver what I expected for me. The characters are great, I do like the character development and I just wish there was more time for the world to be fully explained. I'm definitely shocked with that ending, I'm not sure I saw it coming ever but it did make me very uncomfortable. I will keep reading these books and hopefully it gets better!
