I have no idea what to think about the ending, but I enjoyed the journey. I do recommend reading this one quickly - I read it in 4 sittings and still found myself getting timelines confused. I will say, I have not been interested in reading WWII novels for a while now, but thought this one was unique and took a very honest approach (as opposed to some of the insane glamorized versions that have popped up in recent years). I had nightmares after reading the sections about the blitz. A fascinating look at the twists and turns of life, and the terrifying reality that death awaits us all and can come in any number of ways.

Recommend to fans of Groundhog Day, Dark Matter, philosophy, and fiction set in WWII.

Brilliant- my favourite book ever xx

While I admire Kate Atkinson's writing, I thought this book was too just disjointed to be very enjoyable. The main character is reborn each time she dies and is given another chance to change her life. She doesn't necessarily remember her past lives but has vague feelings and premonitions to not repeat bad choices. The trouble for me was keeping the lives and dates straight. It seemed as if characters would appear out of nowhere while others would be killed off with just one sentence and no follow up. I definitely appreciated the book more after discussing it with a book club. It's like the tv show lost; if you discuss it enough, everyone's interpretation adds something to the table until you have a more whole understanding of what the author may have been trying to communicate.

This book reminded a great deal of Little Women, that is if the one of the Little Women kept dying over and over again, and the mother takes an overdose of drugs. This is not my favorite book of Kate Atkinson's, I much preferred Transcription.
