2015 Book challenge - Author you haven't read

Although I am not a fan of O'Reilly, I am a fan of Lincoln and this was a pretty good read. In fact I gobbled it up from morning and until early afternoon. I might have been disappointed in the inaccuracies but still something to be enjoyed.

Review to come.

Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard is a very well written account of the events surrounding Lincoln's assassination. Written in novel form, O'Reilly and Dugard do a very good job of educating the reader on the details of the plot to kill Lincoln. It offers a brief background of the end of the Civil War, helping the reader to understand Booth's mentality. The book goes on to give a very detailed outline of the days just prior to, the day of, and the days after Lincoln's death up to the capture and execution of John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators. My only real complaint is that there are no footnotes and the Notes section at the end merely lists what books/resources that were used for research. I would prefer to have information cited properly, so that if I want to look up the reference as I am reading, it would be easy to find.

Killing Lincoln is both an interesting book filled with many historical facts told in a sometimes compelling manner and a frustrating speculative venture infused with dramatic license to fill in gaps. The three star rating reflects an average of 4 stars for the facts and chronology and 2 stars for the inclusion of thoughts that could not be determined by anyone other than the actors themselves.

DID NOT FINISH

taking too long to get to when he was assassinated. not into the civil war that much to wanna keep reading it. sucks because im so bored of this book because its mainly about the war.

A book about the lead up to the Lincoln assassination and all the players involved. Would have liked a little more from Lincoln's point of view and his interaction with his cabinet - I guess that book is Team of Rivals

Fantastic!! The short, suspenseful pages read like a James Patterson thriller. I loved every page of it. It was fascinating and kept me on the edge of my seat, even though the ending is known.
