Quick, fun, sexy read. I prefer her Marshals series (Twisted and Tied), but overall I enjoyed this mafia romance. Dreo speaking in Italian is a new weakness of mine. I could almost overlook the MC Nate being a little too perfect and every minor character being “gorgeous.” But as a Chicagoan, Calmes captured the city and its suburbs really well. The sex scenes were on-fire steamy and I ate up the age gap trope. Can’t go wrong with Calmes.

I loved this book. I loved Nate, Dreo, Michael, Melissa and Ben and many more people that were in this book. There's just something about how Mary Calmes writes it's so real and she pulls you in. Nate and Dreo were so refreshing especially Nate he was so honest and didn't play games, ask him a question and he answers honestly whether you want to hear the truth or not, lol I hope she's not done with them. I know a lot of times people are leery about the females in m/m but I have to tell you I had no problem with them in this one and just loved Melissa.

La historia entre Dreo y Nate fue bonita. Hace mucho que quería leerla y por fin se me cumplió.

No saben lo mucho que me encantaron las escenas donde salía Dreo. En verdad que se llevó mi corazón entero, literal desde la primera escena donde dice Grazie ya me había ganado por completo. También está el hecho de que gracias a su personaje he aprendido unas cuantas frases en italiano que espero utilizar en un futuro próximo y aagghhh, mientras leía lo que decía solo estaba tipo;

Read for M/M Romance Bingo challenge

I feel like I'm the only person who didn't really enjoy this story. The first half of the book didn't grab me at all. There were some characters in there and some storylines that had completely nothing to do with the plot, so the writer could just as well have left them out. Also, reading the blurb, I was a bit confused in the beginning since they were talking about one of the MCs starting a relationship with another man, which made me wonder: "Am I reading the right book?"
Then I got to the second half of the book and the story finally seemed to start. That part was pleasant with some twists, which eventually let me to a 3 star rating.

4.5 stars - Another gem by Mary Calmes, this was awesome! So much love for Dreo, who is possibly my new favourite character ever <3 I loved all the characters in this one except maybe Sean - he annoyed the heck out of me most of the time, but that was probably just because I desperately didn't want Nate to get together with him.

The only thing that really bothered me was how much everyone was totally in love with Nate. It got to the point that it was becoming sort of creepy and unnatural. But that's something I've noticed a lot in Mary Calmes' books - there is always a MC that everyone seems obsessed with. It just seemed more obvious here and started to annoy me a little bit.

Ladies and gents, let me introduce you to the most perfect literary hero ever penned in the entire history of literary characters.

Name: Dr. Nathan Quells
Profession: Professor, University of Chicago
Character Highlights: Kind, amiable, generous, supportive father/friend/mentor...do you see where I'm going with this? He saves old ladies being mugged on the side. He's a good lay and an accommodating lover. He's understanding to men who's blatantly playing him and shrugs it off like it's no big. Like, who cares? It's not like we're dating anyway. I'd say he was about a rain check away from being a doormat but this wouldn't be a character highlight now, would it? Right. I'm getting sidetracked here.

This man is like...Gandhi - good to the core. He's the popular guy in school whom everyone liked. Girls want to be with him and guys want to fuck him. No freaking exception. Heck, I wanted to make sweet, sweet love to my Kindle because of him. This man is the epitome of every woman's fantasies...but he's gay. And he's not into women. Ain't that always the case? Anyway, I have a point. Really, I do. Nathan is an impossibly perfect guy. He is without flaws. I'm not kidding.

Character Lowlights: *crickets*... *tumbleweeds*... He's perfect - too perfect. Basically, this man could do no wrong.

I enjoyed this book. Even though I'm not a fan of overly perfect male leads, getting acquainted with Nathan Quells was a different experience. The sex was hot. Oh and gah. Dreo whispering words of love in Italian was sex in itself.

I really liked reading the book. From all the reviews on goodreads, I expected to hate Nate, but I found him endearing. Dreo, too, was adorable - his intense feelings for Nate, his expressiveness, all of it had me squealing and shipping the two in my head. When they were together, dead God. It was thrilling - I thought that the pace at which their relationship moved was wayyy too fast, but all the same, Nate has had so much experience with men, that he knew Dreo was different, and even if Dreo didn't have that advantage, I trusted his steady feelings for Nate, so I wasn't worried. It was so wonderful to read about Nate's family, and how happy everyone was. It was ridiculous, but I loved the warmth and the witty banter. It was funny - not very, but pleasantly amusing.
All the kissing scenes though *frantically fans self* - those were VERY well written. Whoo. Good stuff - Mary Calmes really knows how to write sensually (although she did repeat words. Like Nate just kept being "undone" since he met Dreo - and not just in bed, like, he'd "come undone" if Dreo called him his boyfriend, and I get that it's a huge big cute deal, but also, that's a little too strong of a reaction). Although all the physical stuff was entertaining, I wished there had been more depth to their interactions - I never really understood why they meant so much to each other.
Overall, this book did not have a lot of conflict, but it did tell a story of how two people came together.

4.5 stars - Acrobat is a fabulous story and not what I expected (in a good way). The story was really engrossing and the characters so well written.

Nate is such a wonderful man. The way he took his 16 year old neighbour Michael under his wing and looked after him was fabulous. He is a brilliant father and a true friend. He is 45 and he is gorgeous!

Nate's ex-wife Mel, is his best friend, with a terrific sense of humour and desire to see him find his true love.

Dreo is hot and intense. So sexy, he speaks Italian, the language of love. He is the younger man but knows what he wants in his life (which is Nate) and takes all necessary steps to ensure he gets the family and life that he wants for Michael and himself.

Full of action, a great cast of supporting characters and love, it is a terrific story.
