How are the mighty fallen?

Poor Jax - I revelled in him being crest fallen because a girl dumped him. Mr, I've got a Ferrari and the Hulk in my pants reduced to Mr sad face.

I absolutely pissed my pants at the dating advice he gave Lizzie. Basically, wear a cardigan, tell him you want a Walton sized family, and cook him bland food. He should have added, what ever you do, do not attempt any kind of French kissing.

I'm not going to say how that dating advice worked out but fuck me I am buying a cardi and getting a picket pence.

JD says he's not into geek - ha ha busted! Dr Who reference in this one, Star Wars in part one. He despises Apple too. La la la. Not listening.

Serious now. JD is a refreshing new author. He might be a bit of a bulldog in that he charges in without thought for time line. Come on dudes it's fiction, not real life.

The release of part 2 (yes always knew that there were 2 parts - get with the programme (UK spelling)) came at a perfect time for me. I needed a laugh out loud sexfest and the two parts combined delivered.

So, Brando, you and me, picnic on the beach, you surf, I sunbathe and read all about you? Beats a corporate cubicle any day.

What.
The FUCK.
Was that?!!

The end of book 1 set us up with the PERFECT surprise angsty second half of this story and we did NOT get anything that the cliffhanger promised us.

First of all this book shouldn't have existed. It was all of 2 pages long and should have just been added to the first story. We gained absolutely nothing by having this as a separate book. If anything it completely ruined the pacing of the story despite it literally picking back up from the exact moment the first book ended on.

Now for spoilers because I can't review this without yelling very specifically

WHY WHY WHY
You ruined Lizzy, you ruined Jax, you even ruined James, a character we barely knew but DEFINITELY wasn't going in the direction this book took him in.
Lizzie all of the sudden was a fucking moron who was perfectly happy to change her entire personality (and I don't mean casually but on purpose) to suit this guy that she's known less than a week. She meets this guy who's basically Brody all over again and she goes on and on about how she wants to be everything he wants despite saying the opposite in the first book.
Girl doesn't even notice when Jax sabbotages her date with James by giving terrible advice. She fuckin takes notes. I can't believe that nonsense.

Then Jax.... I can get behind him turning into a sad puppy. Homeboy has never experienced love and rejection before so of couse he's gonna be melodramatic about it. But him not fighting for Lizzie? Even after Luce tells him to go all out to win her back? He doesn't tell her how he feels, doesn't try to tempt her, doesn't make her spend extra time with him and all his awesomeness, doesn't do fucking ANYTHING other than give her weird advice??? So out of character I couldn't believe it.

If you wanted to create a character that was the antithesis of Jax and also fucking weird enough for Lizzie to break up with fast... at least make her inner monologue react poorly to the guy. Despite him being SO fucking weird, she never makes a peep about how much of a loser and weirdo he is. God it was infuriating. She literally only breaks up with him in the end because he wouldn't have sex with her when she wanted... I couldn't fuckin believe it.

And the ENDING??!?! I couldn't believe it wrapped up within 5 pages and went:
Jax: I have real feelings for you. I want to try dating.
Lizzie: I don't believe you because you're a manwhore. I don't believe you and never will.
5 mins later...
Jax: I got rid of my car to help you with this thing.
Lizzie: oh ok I believe you we can try dating.

THE FUCKING END!!!!
....
No denoument, no epilogue, no real climax even. Just "Yeah I guess we can try." The end.
I'm so fuckin pissed. Great book 1 and ... I don't even want to call this a book because it sure as hell wasn't the same characters or story. BARF.

I absolutely loved the series. This new author is definitely here to stay. The only negative for me was that I want to read more!!

Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 ends and gives us all an conclusion without the long wait time. I understand and somewhat agree with other reviewers. This part was a bit disappointing as we didn't get the level of humor and sexiness of the first part. However, the story was moved in a hopeful direction where our playboy learns the lesson of "I just want her happy". I only gave it minus one star due to POV. I have nothing against a dual or female POV. But I wanted more of Jax. Since this is a male author, I was hoping for more of a POV that was male driven.

I do like his writing style and pace. I will try more of his books in the future as this debut as a whole was wonderful.

I'm going 3 3/4 to 4 stars on this one.

I fell in love with the first book so I had high expectations for book 2. And it's not like it wasn't good, because it was but I felt like this one fell a bit short.

So the book starts off where that last one ended. I think what threw me in this book is in Book 1 you have Jax teaching Lizzie how to be an incredible fuck. He is building her confidence and she is really coming into her own and boom all the lessons fly out the window and in order to have a relationship she is basically ready to settle down with probably someone worse than she originally had. Suddenly we see a clueless Lizzie. I kind of wanted to smack her.

On top of that we got a sort of sulky Jax. In my review of book 1 I called him probably the cockiest character I may have ever read. I was like where is my cocky guy. How could he be defeated so easily. The Jax that I knew and started to love would have more fight in him. On the plus side I did like his evolution from a one hitter to someone who could have feelings for someone and maybe a relationship. It was nice to see how much he ended up caring about Lizzie

I also did think it ended pretty abruptly. I think that there was more that could have been explored. Possibly both books could have been combined into one book... but that is neither here nor there. If the author preferred two that is fine, but maybe lets see more content in regards to the conclusion.

Standout character for me again was Luce. I like her attitude and her relationship/friendship with Jax.

Even though book 2 didn't knock me out like book 1 I still really like this author. He has a great style of writing. I like the humor he put into both books. I like his descriptions.

“I’m a ‘never-see-you-again’ guy. A one-ride-ticket. You don’t go to Niagara Falls or the pyramids every day, but you remember them forever. That’s what I offer. An unforgettable night, and a taxi ride home.”

See that's good right?! This book is full of that kind of easy, fun, humorous, catchy writing style. I will definitely be picking up the next book he puts out.
