Beau and Carissa had a lot to do with the 4 stars, plus not gonna lie, the plot was rather intriguing itself and it personally didn't overpower the romance for me. However, the pace was a little too fast, and I did wish to see more of the two. One thing I can't stand, though, and this is so small I doubt anyone else would care, what the hell happened to her head after the grazing? And how about his wound? It's as if it magically disappeared and healed. He kept pulling her hair in the lovemaking, all the while I kept wincing at her stitches. Though it was all a little fantastical, it was definitely a Beau and Carissa story. I did miss the angst that was Drake. But Beau was still loveable.
This historical romance was both good and bad.
The Good: Closure in my many ways in the series (but still more to come!!). Finally get these 2 main characters into the marriage bed. The author writes well - she does get you drawn into the story. The secondary characters are interesting and you want to hear about them.
The Bad: The trust issues between Beau and Carissa really bugged me. This caused their relationship to suffer (as trust issues always will) and it was just so frustrating that I wanted to scream or spank them until they got a clue. Also, it felt like the Inferno Club should have been more protected/protected it's own for what it represents in the series.
The Eh: This particular book felt a little bit predictable. It was great to get some of the characters relationships in order but it felt just like a place holder in the series.
I do like the Inferno Club series, it's intriguing, funny, well written and you have romance and danger. Who could want more.

My Scandalous Viscount is the fifth book in a series. I have not read any of the previous four books and I think I was missing something. Sometimes it's awkward to read a series out of order. A lot of Historical Romance books work well as standalones, as well as part of a series. However, I think I was missing a lot of backstory in this one, which made it hard to follow the storyline.
That was just my experience. I'm sure anyone who has read the rest of the series will love this one. It follows the romance between Beau and Carissa. I didn't really get into their love story because the plot wasn't grabbing me. Which again, probably had a lot to do with not reading the previous books in the series.
I'm sure fans of Gaelen Foley will love this. I just felt like I was missing too much backstory and it affected my reading experience.
(Thanks to Edelweiss for providing me with a copy in exchange for my honest opinion)

Gaelen Foley is a master of historical romances and one of my favorites. Ever since The Duke I’ve been a big fan and she’s been on my Must Buy list ever since. My Scandalous Viscount is a continuation of The Inferno Club series that brings us back to London with Sebastian and Carissa. Carissa can’t seem to keep her nose out of trouble and after a rescue puts them in a compromising Sebastian steps up and they agree to marry. But even after marriage Carissa can’t stop her inquisitive nature and these newlyweds can’t see eye to eye. When danger strikes too close to home, Sebastian and Carissa have to put their differences aside and fight not only for the safety of London and The Inferno Club but for their marriage as well. Great read, can’t wait until the next in the series!
Very good book. Carissa and Beau have known each other for years. Beau is a notorious rake in public, but in private he is one of a group of operatives who protect the country. Carissa is a busybody - or "lady of information" - who tends to poke he nose where it doesn't belong. He's attracted to her but her personality and his line of work are not a good mix. Then she gets hurt trying to save him from harm and the resulting compromising situation forces them to marry. Beau wants to keep her safe and Carissa wants to help him save his friends. Neither of them expects the storm of emotions that connect them.
I liked Carissa even though sometimes I wanted to shake her. The main reason for her nosiness is to be aware of any gossip that might affect her after she made a regrettable mistake with a man. She doesn't understand her excessive interest in Beau, but that doesn't stop her from butting in when she things he's about to be attacked by a jealous husband. Instead she gets between him and a rogue agent and ends up getting shot. When Beau takes her to the Inferno Club headquarters to fix her up she manages to discover his secrets. Between that and being alone with him, they must marry to save their reputations. Beau and fellow club members are under attack from members of their own government and Carissa feels she can use her abilities to help find out the truth but Beau doesn't trust her enough to allow it. Not owning up to that past mistake to Beau has caused him to doubt her honesty. Carissa is a lot smarter than Beau realizes and his refusal just makes her more determined to help. However, she has a tendency to jump in without considering what the consequences of her actions could be. Add in her growing love for him and she is desperately afraid of losing him. After the deaths of her parents when she was young she spent years being shuffled from family member to family member, just wanting to be loved for herself. I loved seeing the way that Carissa's mind worked and how she was able to connect bits of information. I also loved seeing her determination to help Beau even as she feared losing him. The ending was great.
Beau is the Order member who has been left to deal with the government investigation at the same time he is trying to find out what happened to his two missing team members. For relief he goes out on the town looking for a liaison, instead finding himself in a duel of words with Carissa. He can't understand why his brain always seems to shut down around her as he can't help giving her a hard time. He's also made the mistake of kissing her a couple times which just adds to the problem. His fear for her when she gets shot trying to help him makes him realize that he may be in more trouble with her than he thought. The same lack of thinking around her enables her to discover his secret identity and he insists that they marry. He doesn't expect to be so pleased with the idea. I loved how those developing feelings of his show his romantic side (the wedding gifts were fantastic) and how great he was with her that night. When he discovers that she's been hiding a rather important secret from him it causes him to wonder if he really knows Carissa at all. He tries to encourage her to confide in him without telling her what he suspects and is hurt by her avoidance. He still can't deny his feelings and his need to protect her is just as strong. He doesn't seem to realize just how strong her need to help is as he keeps shutting her out of the investigation. I loved the ending as they finally learn to trust each other completely.
The conclusion of the investigation into the Order by the government and the results of the search for the bad guys was very well done. It kept me turning the pages as I tried to figure out what was going to happen next. It was pretty obvious that the government guy had an agenda but the scope of the whole thing was pretty incredible. I loved seeing the way that Beau and Carissa were central to solving the whole issue and what it meant for their relationship. I always enjoy catching up with previous characters and these were no exception.

Gaelen Foley is one of those authors you automatically buy their book. My Scandalous Viscount is one of them. I just love the chemistry between Beauchamp and Carissa.
I really can relate with Carissa. She call herself "lady of information" which is totally me. The story take place in London during and alittle after Westwood and Emily book. Beauchamp is in the middle of internal investigation of the order. He is trying to juggle trying to protect his few order members from being labeled traitors and Carissa finding out the truth about the order. However, Beauchamp can not keep this "secret" from the "lady of information." Carissa soon finds out that Beauchamp is in the order and that her best friend's husbands are too. On top of that Beauchamp has to keep his former friend and order member from committing treason and of course protect the Carissa.
I was very intrigued by the new characters, Nick and Trevor. I can't wait to read their stories. :) Thank you edelweiss for the advance copy.

It had a good premise but I feel like the interesting part of the premise: heroine being a snoop and the hero catching her, could’ve been stretched out for the whole book, with them playing cat and mouse as she discovered what he really was (a spy). Instead, it was all over and done with and they were married by the first quarter of the book, and the rest was just some weird sub plot about the heroine lying about her virginity and also some political stuff that was giving me weird vibes because the main characters seemed ummmm the opposite of progressive??? which makes me worry a little about what kind of author I’m supporting. Oof.
I was not disappointed in finally getting Beau and Carissa's story. Frankly they are just completely adorable. The discovery of a new group working against the Order made the story very interesting as well as meeting the new characters of Beau's team leaving me ready for their story. The characters were well presented but at the end I would have prefered for them to spend more time together as a married couple than they had and left me wanting in that part of their relationship.
