On the one hand, I'm half curious how the story goes, what happens, and how. But I'm not curious enough to read the rest of the trilogy. Maybe I'd have enjoyed it when I was younger. Much younger. Hard to say.

I'll probably try a different NR story another time, to see if it's just this one that irks me in so many ways.

Gabaldon this is not.

Still I can see the potential for popular appeal... Handsome males, lovely females, fast cars, splendid horses, cute dialogue/dialect, pretty magic, fast moving story, sappy romance/sex, fast reading, nothing graphic.

Much the same formula as "Cousins O'Dwyer"and her other trilogies, but highly enjoyable. The time travel element was a fun addition with Hoyt and Glenna. Blair reminds me very much of Buffy Summers, which I'm sure was the intended vibe. Looking forward to the second in the trilogy!

It felt slow getting through the second half of it. I liked the characters individually a lot but felt like it needed more of their interactions with eachother to make their found-family dynamic less forced. I just wasnt as captivated by it as I hoped I'd be.

Glenna and Hoyt are adorable.
Nora Roberts makes me happy. Every damn time.
That's all for today guys :)

Not bad but not my favorite. I will still probably read book two. It is no where near The One trilogy. Which is what originally drew me to Nora Roberts.

2022: Reread, without the break this time. An extra star this time around. I liked it more than the first time I read it.

2019: I put it down about 41% of the way through to read something else, then went back to it afterwards and found it did get better. (I hate not finishing a book.) It didn’t grip me at the beginning but I’m keen to read the rest of the series now.

Not one of my favourite paranormal romances from Nora Roberts. This is about a vampire vs human war, with several people coming from the 12th/13th century via portal and there is a goddess involved too. My main problem with this is that I didn't really care about the fighters. Well I found myself caring about King, after he apologised, and his friendship with Moira as he seemed to be making an effort to fit into the team, unlike Cian.
And then he died and got turned into a vampire, all to further Cian's guilt and to be Glenna's reminder to take the fight seriously.
So I wasn't happy about that turn of events. (Also
the only black character in the group to be impulsively violent and die for a white character's pain
is not a good look at all.)

I'm curious about where the fight from Lilith goes from here, especially with all the fighters involved. I did like the friendships in this, though Cian could die and I wouldn't care one bit, and the romance itself was nothing particularly endearing. I would continue with the series if I saw the next book in the library but that is mostly because it's Nora Roberts.
