As I read this book for the first time ever ( big lover of the movie here) I was happily picturing every scene in the movie and was very happy with how close they stuck to it. Such a good book that just makes you feel nostalgic about everything you grew up thinking and feeling as a young teenager. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series holds.

This book took me by surprise. I wasn't ready for the feels, but they came nonetheless. It isn't the best written book in the world, but it was special to me.

I'm a little old for this book. I admit it. But, I loved it. I saw the movie a few years ago and loved that, but think the book is better. Especially Lena's story, which I didn't particularly care for in the movie. My favorite in both was Tibby's and it was just so much more emotional and real in the book, IMO.

This is a light beach read all about girl power and friendships. Some of the things that happen in the book are unrealistic (like one girl deciding to jet off to Mexico without bothering to ask her parents about it), but the story's focus on the deep and loyal friendship among high school girls is what makes this an enjoyable book. There are highs and lows (read: giggling and LOTS of angst) for each of the girls, but ultimately the book's optimistic message of girls being kind and supportive to one another shines through.

Oh, I loved this. So much. It was the sort of thing that I devoured, then immediately gave to my then 17 year old sister, who also devoured it. I didn't see the movie, and I'm fine with that choice. Sweet chick lit for teens and tweens.

DID NOT FINISH

Too boring.

I put off reading this for so long because I have not had good luck with the early 2000’s chick lit, but I’m glad I finally got to it! The story is about four BFFs that will be spending their first summer apart since they were born. Lena and her sister Effie are meeting their grandparents in Greece for the first time. Carmen is going to visit her dad, and when she gets there she learns that he is engaged and Carmen now has 2 step-siblings. Bridget is going to soccer camp in California, and Tibby is staying behind to work at a store.

Also there is a pair of magical pants that fits them all perfectly despite their different body types soo they decide to each spend some time with the pants over summer break.

I didn’t exactly love all the characters, and I hated Bridget the most, but their storylines where really good, although at time a bit dramatic. What I do love is that the romance isn’t the number one plot line, and also not every girl is experiencing romance this summer. Carmen is focused on her family issues, and Tibby makes a new friend who has cancer and that was super cute to read about.

It’s not the best book ever, but it got me out of a major reading slump and I believe it’s a great book for some light summer reading. I definitely plan on continuing with the series!

This seems so juvenile, but I actually loved this book. Two out of the four girls' stories made me cry. Ridiculous. LOL. :) I would have loved reading this as a teen too.

This is a light, fun and easy read. Brashares makes the reader feel transported back into early teen age life...the girls' struggles, secrets and fun times come alive. I'm looking foward to reading further in the series reading of the girls' growth not only in life but in their friendships with each other.
