If you don't read carefully, you'll miss the bonus text at the bottom of the page. Anyway, I love Jake and Finn. FRIENDSHIP!

That amazing Adventure Time combination of zany sillyness and genuinely heartfelt sorrow.

I love Adventure Time. It is hilarious and quirky and just strange enough. But this was beyond awesome. Not only were the stories fun and well paced, the second story about the Ice King actually made me feel things. Deep things about emotions or whatever. The story dealt with themes of aging, memory, vulnerability, depression, and self-worth. And let me remind you, this is Adventure Time we are talking about. Don't believe me? Read this "Sometimes I do think I should give up--just let the crown freeze, with me in it. Some days I can't remember a single reason to keep fighting...But giving up is easy. You know what's hard? To believe in you own worth, to know you've got something special in you even if nobody else can see it. Even when YOU can't."

Holy crap.

The AT comics continue to entertain. The story arc for this volume follows the Ice King, Finn, and Jake through Ice King’s secret dungeons. Ice King has forgotten creating them, but they go in anyways to seek out legendary treasure, as well as dangerous beasts and memories the Ice King has long forgotten. It’s a little sad, but also full of goofy humor, puns, and hidden snails as always. It was one of the best volumes thus far.

I waited until this volume to post my review. I love Adventure Time, like a lot, maybe too much. But I generally don't enjoy reading additional material related to a show when it is not it's primary source. For example, I've never been a huge fan of The Simpsons' comics. I think they have a lot of fans, and perhaps I should give them a shot, but my earlier experiences with them were not memorable. Anyway, I decided to take a chance on the first volume of the Adventure Time series because the first issue was genuinely great. Not only did it contribute to the show, it was also very interesting on its own. A few months later, I had volumes three and four in my hands (volume two was sold out, much to my chagrin), and it was incredible. Each volume seems to add a different twist to the comic book genre while also providing incredibly touching, funny, and entertaining stories that fit with the AT universe. While I was reading it, I could hear each character's voice, and they were non-stop page-turners. This is MUST read for fans of the show, but also for children since it offers a lot of learning opportunities without being patronizing, and it is also great for adults since some jokes will fly past children's radars. Besides, AT seems to have a great deal of adult fans, right? Right?!?
