While I’ve never been interested in the FNAF games themselves. I did find the lore very interesting and have wondered what the books might add to the lore. So when my daughter gave me her copy of this book for Christmas I couldn’t wait to find out.

I really enjoyed the book despite it being for young kids, it really reminded me of the old goosebumps books I read as a kid, only in true FNAF style it leaves you with more questions than answers.

i hate to be this person, but MAN, i couldn't help but notice there was almost an underlying sense of mockery with the female characters, millie and sarah, versus oswald? oswald was praised as this hero with little-to-no consequences at the end of his story, meanwhile the two girls characters faced horrendous, gory punishments. millie's character was so entirely realistic; no kid acts the way she does and has the thought process she does, especially at her age. i understand "why" the female characters had the negative traits they had, but it still felt a little wrong to me that oswald's character was deemed practically a hero.

The beginning of the stories we're dragging a little bit in my opinion but once the weird fnaf stuff started happening? I was here for it. The last stroy was definitely my least favourite.

3 interesting short stories that all have a little fnaf-ish scare. The first story "into the pit" was by far the best one. After that the story’s had less and less fnaf content and focused more on the flaws and struggles of the maincharacter. Still it was a short and light scary read where especially the ending of the second story gave me the goosebumps.

As a fnaf fan, I think my favourite of the 3 main stories in this has to be ‘Into The Pit’. I love the idea of an old battered pizzeria hiding the old location of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, and I love that an old ball pit is the only thing separating the future from the 80s. Think this one was more akin to the games/first novel.

To Be Beautiful wasn’t a favourite, but I loved the aspect of an animatronic doing major surgery after lulling a child to sleep. I don’t like how poor Sarah is constantly described as ugly/describes herself as ugly. That kinda makes me sad.

And Count The Ways was just sad. We didn’t really need Millie to climb into a withered Freddie animatronic and be killed to feel sad for her - I think the abandonment from her parents, and the sadness she feels from finding somebody at school that was similar to her, to find out he’s not interested in her is heart-wrenching enough. And her grandpa is so so so cute - wish she had been nicer to him.

Epilogue is a good setup for more.
