Some good ideas and breakdowns, but nothing revelatory. Surprised myself that the excessive profanity and colloquial style actually got kinda annoying, like she was trying to be a "cool" academic or something lol. Felt a bit forced. I could see this being inspiring and maybe helpful to someone just starting to get a grasp of their mental health that needs something light to read, though.
Fantastic explication of “why” and “what do I do about it” as it relates to trauma and anxiety. Will definitely want to reread.
Swearing gets tedious - some good stuff in between and it does drop off towards the end
This had some nuggets of truth that resonated, but overall the audiobook was really poor quality. It sounded like she recorded it while driving down a busy highway where her attention was divided and she might have had a few glasses of wine…or shots of vodka.
Ooouuff...this was a flop for me.
I don't think she got through a single paragraph without profanity, and normally that doesn't matter to me but it took away from the whole experience of reading this book. I also found all of the information and advice to be very basic and perhaps something I could have found in a TED Talk.

This is a great tool for anyone who has mental health challenges or a loved one who does; brings all the professional jargon down to the layperson level with a nice twist of irreverence and sarcasm. As a mental health professional, this wound up pretty redundant but a nice recap on some of the stuff I learned in higher ed.
I couldn't enjoy nor focus on the content because the style of writing is so obnoxious. I tried listening to it on Audible at first, but that was even worse. Imagine a book written and narrated by a new sorority sister, and you'll get the idea.
I listened to the audiobook version (which was free). The quality of the audio isn’t great but I could look past it. The whole book is about 3.5 hours of audio. The content is basically what I go through with my therapy patients so it was nice to hear it consolidated in a down to earth/matter-of-fact way. The cussing isn’t for everyone but I found it entertaining and it kept the material from getting too dry. I feel like it’s a good option for my younger patients that would have a hard time reading other psychoeductional books. Plenty of concrete skills and treatment options were offered too. I think this will be a good option for a lot of people that never attempt other self-help books because they’re daunting.
