3/4 of this 4 star review go to Colleen Doran's illustrations which are incredibly lovely watercolors.

A must-have for any lover of Arthuriana. The story and illustrations seamlessly weave the past into the present for a heartwarming and unpredictable tale. Highest recommendation!

A beautiful graphic treatment of my favorite Neil Gaiman short story - a story I've loved since I first read it around 25 years ago. The color palette is exactly right: light and summery, appropriate for a cozy cup of tea in the garden or the clarion call to storybook adventure. The "illuminated"-style pages for Galaad's own stories are just ::: chef's kiss ::: perfect.

Likely my favorite of Neil Gaiman’s short stories made a million times better by the fantastic art of this. So stunned. The story makes me feel so warm and happy every time I read it.

I've tried a lot of Neil Gaiman, and I just need to accept he's not an author for me. This was enjoyable, the artist did a fabulous job with the illuminated manuscript style art. His writing just doesn't click with me the way it does for many.

This was enjoyable for what it was - a graphic text of a short story.

This was so weird... Mrs. Whitaker is just like "ope, there's the Holy Grail." Not super comfy with the detail about her washing (I'm guessing) Jesus' blood out before displaying it on her mantel.

There were a few typos in this, which was disappointing. Especially after reading the artist's note and knowing how much work she put into this project. The biggest example was one of the character's names - Sir Galaad? Or Sir Galahad? The majority of the times it was the former, so that's what I'm leaning towards...

I would be completely remiss to not mention the artwork. It is absolutely stunning. The illuminated style the artist uses is just gorgeous. Definitely contributed to this being a four-star read (a rarity on my graphic novels shelf). I'm shockingly not as well versed in Gaiman's work, but this had the mixture of wacky and heartfelt that I've come to expect from him. Definitely enjoyed it. Bit weird.
