You know that question “If you could invite five people to a dinner party, who would you pick?” Well, Stanley Tucci is definitely on that list. He’s likable and relatable in Taste. It was a delight to read, but don’t pick it up if you’re hungry. I have quite a few meal ideas ready for the coming weeks thanks to this read. I also appreciated his take on how his taste and smell changed during his battle with cancer and how he was able to finally overcome that battle. It spoke to me considering the months I’ve spent this year battling post-covid parosmia and dyseugia and how good really does shape a life.

3.5 stars for me - I listened to this on audio and while I loved listening to Stanley Tucci, I wish I could see those wonderful recipes he mentions. My audiobook was from the library so I’m not sure if you were to purchase the audio version if it would come with pdfs of the recipes. I will definitely be looking online for them though because they sounded amazing!

Don't read this while hungry. The food always sounds amazing in this book and some how he makes pasta with cheese on it make your mouth water. I didn't know a lot about Stanley Tucci before reading this book but this book was witty, light hearted, endearing and I think captures why food brings us all together. I loved having him narrate the audiobook as well because you can really tell he cares about those around him.

As an audiobook there is no really interesting way to narrate recipes so sometimes he lost me when there were several back to back. That is really my only complaint.

Great read, lots of great recipes. A nice pallet cleanser both metaphorically and literally.

I have always loved Stanley Tucci as an actor, and this winter enjoyed his mini series on Hulu, “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.” I just finished this memoir and loved it. It is funny, poignant, and often makes the reader crave the dishes he cooking or eating. It is the perfect book for anyone who loves food, and all those people - friends and family - who you have shared a meal with.

I enjoyed each chapter. Eventually I listened on a faster speed because the book went on and on.
