Christ…this was a truly irritating book. I really do not enjoy reading manga comics. The layout for this book drove me nuts—the book is set up backwards and upside down and anything else I cannot think of right now that is designed to throw you off. In spite of an Introduction and a textual Chapter 1 at the back of the book, the actual story begins at the back of the book and is meant to be read completely backward from the right page’s bottom right corner and backward. Naturally, I carried on from the front chapter and read the entire thing completely assbackwards…

I think the story might actually be interesting...if I could just read it as a regular novel please!

A very compelling adaptation of the original novel series. Works very well, considering that the plot does present itself to be very manga-esque.

*The Cirque Du Freak series is loved by many a reader and when the manga came out, I picked it up for the classroom right away and it has been popular as well. I now see why. This story is fascinating, creepy, and suspenseful. I'll definitely get the next manga or pick up the 2nd book so I can see where the story goes.

The pacing is much better than the books. I adore the art style. Though Crepsley is probably a bit too handsome, haha. And Steve, he thoroughly creeps me out :o

This book was a lot better than I thought it would be. Darren was such a fantastic protagonist but I feel it was a little bit too short maybe they could have merged the first two books into one manga.

this book does along with the actual book but this is maga which reads backwards for me in the usa which is a new experience for me but it was very good book to start in the manga life.

I love manga, and so I was thrilled when I found a manga version of Cirque Du Freak. It's interesting to see someone else's depiction of the character, and now when I read the book, I see those characters instead of my own versions. That's okay because I loved how he portrayed Darren, Steve, Mr. Crepsley, and all the others! Steve was creepier than what I'd orginally thought, and I love it! x] It had some scenes that the novel didn't have, but I was fine with that because it fit in so well with the story.
I believe that Takahiro Arai did a great job, maybe even better than Darren Shan! His sad scenes made me cry, while Shan's scenes only made me sad; no tears were wasted there. But Arai had some kind of magic that captured the sorrow of Darren's dad as he cried for his son to live. I couldn't hold back the tears, I was so touched. Takahiro Arai is a true master, and his art is great too.
