Okay better than book 1.
A lot more to pay attention to! I did not see the wolf thing coming. Or the dragon thing with Blake.
That ending though heart breaking.

WHAT. IN THE SATANISTIC JESUS LORD AND SAVIOR OF FREAK*NG MARIE ANTOINETTE AND WHATEVER DEITY YOU WANT. WAS THAT??????????
I fear the ending was too much for me. I will now depart from this place of existence.
Goodbye
Okay i'll try writing a real review.
I don’t even know if it was good anymore. I mean it. I just know I screamed, blacked out and astral projected from sheer emotional whiplash at the end.
Also… (don't read this before reading book one. DON'T.)
This book absolutely had that Fourth Wing energy, and I ate it up like a starving rider in battle school. Exemple:
I think this book was better than book one. The stakes felt higher, the writing had more emotional bite, and the plot was great. But it was also harder to get through for me personally… and I figured out why: I simply hate the MMC.

“You are not going to die, Nyxaris answered. You will not fall. I will not allow it. I will not permit you to humiliate me in such a ridiculous way.” (Hello? Tairn is that you?)

Also es war besser, als das erste buch, aber alles schon bissl abstrus und komisch, oder? Das ende? Hm. Weiß jetzt ned. Nyraxis, der einzige cool boy. Und dass kage der wolf ist, war ja eig auch klar.
I thought Elaria’s speech was a little presumptuous. But at least she hadn’t suggested executing me.
I’m going to die, aren’t I? You are not going to die, Nyxaris answered. You will not fall. I will not allow it. I will not permit you to humiliate me in such a ridiculous way.
Above us, the courtyard went dark. My pulse spiked, no doubt in my mind who was making the shadow overhead. Nyxaris circled the courtyard. Oh, fuck.
“I’m not fucking afraid of you,” I said in annoyance. “Good to hear it,” she snapped. “Then why have you been acting like a fucking pussy? An expression I obviously hate using since my pussy is stronger than your dick any day of the week, but hey, if the expression fits.” She shrugged.
“Wild creatures can’t help their nature.” His dark eyes went to my face and something about the look he gave me sent a shiver down my spine. My, my, my mother said admiringly. Does anyone have a fan? I feel like the temperature in here just rose a few degrees.
I pressed my hands together in a mock prayer, unable to wipe the grin off my face as I looked up at the soft curves of her face. “C’mon, then, Pendragon. Just say you forgive me. We can jump ahead to the part where we defeat Viktor and save the whole damned world.”
“This is a bad idea,” she murmured, but her words faltered as I pressed my lips to her forehead. “Yeah,” I said, my voice hoarse. “It is. So let’s keep going.”
“You’re staring,” she said, her voice quiet but teasing. “And you’re perfect,” I murmured. I brushed a strand of hair from her face, letting my hand linger against her cheek. “I want...” I hesitated. Searching for the right words. “I want to worship you. Say you’ll let me.”
Before I could stop myself, I slipped my hand into his. The moment I made contact, he turned to look at me and his expression made my heart wrench. His gray eyes had gone wide, almost disbelieving, as if the world had shifted beneath his feet and he hadn’t quite caught up yet. That look. It took my breath away. At that moment, all I could think about was how close he was—and how much closer I wanted him to be.
For once, Viktor Drakharrow looked exactly as he should have all along: small, weak, and utterly terrified. He had ruled me through fear. Now that fear was gone. The fire rose. And I let it.
I’d been stupid, selfish, and I’d made the worst mistake of my life. Again.
Nyxaris’s amber eyes met mine. Move aside. Do not test me. He is not worthy of you. Deep down, you have always known this to be true. “I’m not testing you,” I said steadily, though my knees felt weak. “But he’s mine. Right or wrong, he’s mine. I won’t let you harm him.”

This second chapter of the intriguing Briar Boleyn trilogy, The Bond That Burns raises the stakes in the deadly and dangerous world of Bloodwing Academy. After what happened in the first book, the protagonist Medra finds herself dealing with the consequences of the awakening of a dragon. This sequel literally fascinated me thanks to the intrigues and dangers that derive from the first volume, readers will find themselves more and more in a world where alliances are fragile as glass, power is everything. But who can you really trust? The not only external battle to control the dragon while facing betrayal, I won't tell you by whom, adds complexity to the story. Their magnetic bond is full of tension and vulnerability of both of them. The story is full of drama that it is impossible not to be involved in the story. If you love dark academic settings mixed with love and power like me, you'll never want to stop reading until you find out what happens, and that's from start to finish. The Bond That Burns is a powerful, dark, intriguing sequel that in my opinion heralds an ending that will keep us reading even at night. I can't wait... Vote? ♾️
