The Batman one is pretty good. Seeing the different iterations of Batman in the same circumstances is nice. I'm not sure how I feel about Jakita flirting with him, though. On one hand, that would be an awesome pairing; on the other, this feels really OOC for her and I kind of resent her getting turned into a sex object just because it's a mainstream DC crossover.

The Authority crossover is silly and doesn't really hang together as a coherent narrative at all, which is sad because the Lovecraft joke had potential.

The JLA one is interesting as far as what an evil fascist Planetary would be like, and this Bruce is freaking AWESOME. He's a coherent whole mixture of Bruce and the Batman, all in one non-dissociative genius badass package. Diana suffers badly from Trinity Syndrome, though. And Clark is woefully underused. They claim Clark has special Kryptonian organs, which actually makes me curious. I don't remember any xenobiology canon other than the G-class star giving him powers. The rest was hand-waved.

Anyway. Wish these had been better.

Mr. Ellis how I love thee, let me count the ways.

This is 3 different stories. The first one was just kinda great. The second one was probably the darkest comic story I've ever read (and therefore really freaking great. The third was also... you guessed it - great!

This is solidly 5 star territory. I'm SOOOOOO glad I picked this up.

Sorry to go into such excruciating detail but I think you get it. READ THIS.

NOW.

I wasn' sure when to read this book of crossovers as part of a Planetary through-read, so I read it first - rather than have it disrupt the flow of the main series.

Planetary/Authority is decent enough, seems to fit in well with both series. Nothing essential, but enjoyable.

Planetary/JLA is all right, but odd - the JLA isn't really the JLA; it's Bruce, Clark and Diana in a world ruled by Planetary, who are villains. Seemed a crossover in name only, really.

Planetary/Batman is good stuff. Cassaday's aping various Batman versions is pretty cool, and Ellis rolled with the styles very effectively, keeping even the goofy Silver Age Batman on top of the situation. I loved that he was able to get past Jakita, while the modern Batman wasn't!

I really enjoyed the intersection between the Planetary group and the Justice League. So many great ideas at play. Any comic that manages to call Batman a transvestite hooker is ok with me. It was a fun romp worth the read.

Planetary continued, but not as enjoyable as the others. It's odd - Planetary is really all about looking at the strange origins and history of the genre, but they don't seem to work very well in cross-overs. The "shifting Batman" story was just terrible, I'm sorry to say.

A fun group of Planetary stories that sees the team interact with fellow Wildstorm U team the Authority as well as the DCU. Not as amazing as the original series, but these crossovers are still worth reading.

Being a huge Planetary fan, but not a DC fan, I wasn't even aware of this until I ran across it in a bargain bin in a tiny comic shop. But for the amount they were charging, I figured it was worth the read.

And mostly, it was. The first story was only okay, the second not bad at all, and the final one was worth the price of admission. Really well done.

The art was top notch all the way through, and Ellis's snappy, snarky dialogue is always a treat.
