This book was a super cute read. I love how the MC really just took a leap of faith and risked a whole new beginning to create herself a better life. There was also lots of witty banter, lovely moments of family closeness and truth being spoken

This book had a slower start for me and took a little bit to get used to the writing style, but once I got into it I enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed Katherine's character and how close she is with her family, but also how she grows and realizes she deserves more from the people in her life, whether in her job, relationships, or friendships. She isn't flawless, but she is funny, honest, and has a great heart. I also warmed up to Kit who has a grumpy exterior but means well and is just afraid to open up.

I appreciated the slow build between Katherine and Kit and loved their connection and banter once they moved past their initial reservations about one another. The ending wrapped up a bit too quickly for me, but overall I really enjoyed this one.

The romance is on the light side but there's good character growth so I recommend it for contemporary romance / women's fiction fans. Thank you NetGalley and HQ Stories for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

**Thank you to Netgalley, HQ Digital, and of course, Belinda Missen, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Katharine Patterson quits her job and decides to move back home after being broken up by the guy she thought was the one. At rock bottom, Katharine has one thought in her mind - open the Art Gallery of her dreams. It is at this moment that Katharine meets Kit, a handsome local artist when she is not looking for someone. What follows is, of course, an uplifting British Rom-Com. The number of times I actually laughed out loud in my apartment could be counted on both hands. I recommend this with a solid 3.5 star rating! It is everything a rom-com needs to be! Belinda Missen is a new author to me, one that I cannot wait to read more of!

This book was SO CUTE! I read it in less than a day, stayed up until 2 am to finish it. The undeniable chemistry between these characters is amazing, not to mention the insanely supportive friends and family. This book is about love in every form, and I enjoyed it immensely! I wanted to crawl into this book and live with the characters. After I finished at 2 am, I dreamt the whole night about the characters! This book is so adorable!!!

If you’re looking for sexy-times you won’t find it here, it’s pretty clean for a romance. It fades to black, but the romance is so good it wasn’t even disappointing at all. It had all of the best parts of romances, even without it!

3.5 Okay this was a strange one, I actually really liked the main character, her host of friends and the author’s writing style. But the romance went from zero to 100 in a blink - enemies to lovers is hands down my favourite trope, but I’m not even sure if that’s what this book is meant to be? Kit is really nasty and rude the first few times he meets Katharine, like zero redeeming features flat out nasty - and Katharine is still behaving like she’s attracted to him (which is just bizarre, really) - and then suddenly he isn’t, he’s smiling at her and she’s all “oh he has dimples!” and flirty and rubbing his back in front of people. Like what? Did I miss maybe 5 or 6 chapters of the book somewhere in the middle? It was really bizarre and I couldn’t get behind the romance/ attraction at all. And while it does kind of get somewhat better by the end I just never really warmed up to the guy.

“A beautifully and realistically written laugh-out-loud romance…”

I loved the chemistry between Kit and Katie. There wasn’t just passion and lust; there was mutual respect, understanding for each other’s work, and a mature outlook. The effortless writing was complemented with intelligent humor, and I was entertained thoroughly. Katie had her flaws, but who doesn’t, and she knew what they were and worked on it. That’s my favorite part when it comes to female leads.
I loved the book's pace, although Kit did not have a significant appearance until well into the middle of the story, I loved every buildup that led to him. I kept turning pages and frankly only realized I read 300 pages so quickly when I sat down to write this review.
Sharp and witty dialogue between leads always wins my heart.

Accidentally in Love is much more than an enemies-to-lovers rom-com. It explores one young woman’s journey from being an employee passed over for promotion to being the owner of her own art gallery. The inside look at the art world and what goes into opening an art gallery were very interesting. Another theme was family - moving back to her hometown of Sheffield versus staying in London. I loved her family members: Dad, brother Adam, and stepmother Fiona. Her love interests were very different: John the London lawyer and Kit/Christopher, the Sheffield artist. I did think the switch from enemies to lovers with Kit was a bit abrupt, as was the ending. I enjoyed the banter between Kit and Katharine and I loved that they could relate over art and that it was more than just a physical attraction.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was just what I needed to read at the moment! When Katherine is passed over for a promotion at work that she knows she deserves she throws in the towel and moves back up North to start her own art gallery. What I loved about this book is that the romance is almost secondary to a plot about a woman really finding herself and building a life with some wonderfully supportive family relationships.

A couple of things that brought this book down for me where it would have rated higher. When she has sex there is no mention of condoms, and honestly in an adult relationship I like to know the characters are promoting safe sex! Also she is treated really poorly by certain characters and this seems to be completely overlooked and everything is wrapped up nicely ... and Katherine takes the blame for a lot of it!

Anyway, I would rate this 3.5 Stars and I am looking to read more from the author. I read this book in 2 days so you know its good!

Specially thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review

If you are into cheesy, clean, happily ever after Hallmark movies, this might be for you. I think the ideal audience for this novel is anyone who likes things to be wrapped up (very) quickly and perfectly.

Nothing is wrong with any of those things. I actually really enjoy a cheesy, cute novel now and then, but this one just didn't do it for me.

The beginning is strong. We meet Katharine at work as an art curator for a big gallery in London, and she up and quits because she has been passed over for a big promotion (for the THIRD time), while a man less qualified than her gets the job. I loved the feel of the initial chapter and the next few.

The one thing I truly did enjoy about this book is Katharine's work. I love how it started, watching the work she put into opening her own gallery, dealing with how terrifying it is to start over, etc.

Once you meet the love interest, though, is where I feel this book started to lose me. It seems as if it's trying to be an enemies-to-lovers type novel, but I just ended up thinking that Christopher was an immature asshole. These characters are in their mid-30's btw.

There is a way to write an enemies-to-lovers story (I've read so many good ones), but this just didn't have the character development required for it to really impress me or make me feel like these characters have any type of sexual tension between them. Their bickering actually had the opposite effect on me. I found myself not liking either of them.

Another problem I had is the predictability. I was able to guess just about every single thing that happened in this novel. As soon as we met Christopher, I knew exactly what is issue was going to be. I knew exactly how Katharine and Christopher would end up bonding and liking each other. I knew exactly what her and her best friend were going to go through.

What I didn't expect was how fast everything went down. The ending felt so rushed after such a drawn out book. So much time was spent on details of her shopping trips and we repeatedly get summaries of conversations/events that we've already heard about, yet the last 10% contains almost all of the conflict (which was pretty ridiculous) and all of the resolution (which was also ridiculous).

I completely intended for this book to be 3 stars at about halfway through, but the way Christopher acts toward the end upset me so much. It was unbelievably immature and quite dumb. Also, they've only been dating for about a week or two at this point? For the end of this novel to feel real to me, this timeline has to change. I get why he may be a little more ready than most men due to his situation, but... no. Just no. The fight they had and their reactions, plus the way they make up.. all of it is too soon for any relationship.

Something that might make this novel better is an epilogue. I need an epilogue to justify that abrupt and absurd ending.

Although a disappointment for me, I hope this book finds its rightful audience, and I have faith that it will.

Happy reading!

When Katherine finds her London life turned upside down, she moves back to Sheffield to invest everything she has in herself. As she tirelessly toils to fulfill her dream of owning an art gallery, a chance meeting (fix up) with cantankerous Kit, broody local artist, spurs her competitive fire to succeed and makes her realize that when she thought she had it all in her London life, it wasn't even close to what she has now. Filled with witty humor, well-crafted dialogue, and tender emotional moments, Accidentally in Love is the perfect bookish escape.
