This book is very spicy but I did enjoy the Little Mermaid retelling. It gave a lot of depth to the characters. I could see how this book might not be for all because of the spicy level but overall the story was interesting and I found I really liked it.

I like the scenes in the book a lot and the plot is a good retelling of one of my favorite Disney movies. But the actual writing style is a bit too abrupt for me. It needa more showing and less telling

4🌶

This book didn’t have to be this bad but it was. I knew they would have to circle back to the under the sea sex scenes but the extra chapters weren’t necessary. The aquatic sex wasn’t necessary. I ended up skimming the last few chapters & I don’t think I missed anything. The book doesn’t leave loose ends so I appreciate that but it could have been half the size. Can’t recommend this to anyone.

Disney's Little Mermaid was one of my favorites growing up, until I realized when I was 16 that Ariel was absolutely dumb.

This book is a retelling, not of Hans Anderson, but more of the Disney version... but with a much smarter "Ariel" and much more likeable.

Enjoyable spicy retelling of the Little Mermaid.

There were some aspects I really enjoyed about this story. In no particular order: the sea witch, his friends (specifically their unique look otherwise they were underutilized), the scenes of Averill (mermaid learning about human life), and the disillusionment of the little mermaid.

It took some of the problems of the disney movie and improved (aka the prince and instalove), but also sorely missed opportunities across the book. The descriptions of the kingdoms were lackluster. Like it could have been two books if it were fleshed out more. The introduction of the sea witch's friends mostly to say triads are ok. Uhhh. Was there any friendship or are they only there cause he can help them fuck? The conclusion was crazy rushed and disappointing.

I also wish there were less similarities to the Disney version. Ariel = averill  with red hair? Tarion and Triton.
