This book was helpful for understanding the science and mechanics of depression. I feel like I read it too fast to practice many of the tips, so I may need to reread it at some point.

I am looking for ways to curb my seasonal depression this year, and this book was the perfect, practical guide I needed to take on the winter months. Not only is it chock full of scientific info related to how depression impacts the brain (and learning about it makes it less daunting), but I appreciated the action steps the author offered to readers on how to turn depression into an “upward spiral.”

It gives really solid advice for the little things you can do to get out of a depressive spiral. Well researched and not condescending (as some books like this can be).

This is an excellent, helpful book for anyone who has ever suffered from depression. Alex Korb explains, in readily understandable language, what happens in the brain when a person is depressed and how the downward spiral of depression can be reversed. There is help for hope for depression, and while it is not the be all, end all, reading this book could be a good first step in getting better.
