4.25

Maybe 4.5 4.25? I found this book friendly, clear, and well-designed. I liked the way each point was broken into a mnemonic and/or diagram, and the knowledge that these steps were derived from decades of study. I tabbed a frankly embarrassing number of areas to look back on later.

Mileage may vary, of course. Personally, I was very "with" the author until the bizarrely specific Recipes for "Fifteen Life Situations" in the appendix. I get that it is likely intended as inspiration for each of these groups, e.g. substitute out the persona's specific habits here, but with titles like "Tiny Habits for Working Moms" it is hard not to assume some sweeping generalizations.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with a husband thanking his wife for cleaning the kitchen every day, or someone wanting to "open the scriptures and read at least one verse" (which was in multiple lists), but many of the examples made me think the book was targeted to specific demographics in a way I didn't feel as strongly elsewhere in the book. The list "Tiny Habits for Success in College" particularly stood out for its awkward attempts to inject relatability, like the habit, "After I sit down for lunch, I will launch LinkedIn to read nursing news and get better connected" or "After I arrive home from church on Sunday, I will sit down and explore one summer internship in STEM". Some of the "Tiny Habits for Brain Health" resonated with my own life, like learning on Duolingo, but ones like "After I take my evening vitamins, I will strum my ukelele" made me smile à la, "Sounds nice, but I don't do either of those things."
All that said, this was a list of examples of the very back of the book, so I tried not to let it colour my opinion too much.

TW: lots of food and weight loss talk, e.g.
the suggested student habit to "turn away from the candy corner (too much temptation!)."
I wouldn't say the book fixates on this per se, but it is integrated (perhaps predictably) into many of the example habits throughout. Just a heads up if this is a sensitive topic.
