EEEE this book was sick!!! I was completely captivated by this eerie, spooky story of love and loss and horrors, and often felt like I couldn't put it down. Pages just melted away as I ate up every new piece of information, every new mystery, every new hint.

Painfully, there are two huge questions Sutherland left open ended with no intention of making a sequel to this book:
WHO were the girls before they were Hallows? And DO Iris and Vivi find Tyler and bring him back?
I'm DYING for a sequel!!

I really liked the beginning and the overall vibe of the whole book but as the story progressed I unfortunately did not enjoy most of the reveals and twists surrounding the infamous Hollow sisters.

I wanted to love this book.

Truly, I did.

The potential was there: a twisted fairytale involving three sisters, a tale of equal parts urban fantasy and horror...I found myself rushing through some parts and halfway through the book, had already guessed some of the plot twists. If I read yet ANOTHER sentence with the word "gag"...

Like I said, I wanted to love it. It does have a beautiful cover, the story (most of it, anyways) is interesting. Some of the characters aren't likable, but they also don't feel real or human enough (pun intended). The plot is SLOW and when it finally gets somewhere, we are almost reaching the ending.

It could've been better. This book deserves three and a half stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️½

It was a good book that held my attention. It took a big dive from being a crime mystery to fantasy/horror at the end. I like both genres so I was okay with this.

Spoiler alert: I didn’t like that at the end the main character kissed her missing sister’s boyfriend. The surprise ending of who the main characters really were was an interesting twist. I found some things a little foreseeable towards the end like the bull headed man reveal, but definitely not the full truth of the Hollow sisters.

4.5 stars if there was halfsies.

This one would have definitely been rated higher if it had not lost steam for me in the second half. I found myself really enjoying the idea of this book. The creative explanations of the otherness that was present and the obsessive connection between the sisters. Sadly, the second half lead down a path that just didn't keep my interest as much. I correctly guessed the answers to all the big questions in the book, which is never fun, and was left feeling a little underwhelmed by the ending. Also really did not understand Tyler's presence being such a big thing throughout the book. I felt like the author just added him so that she could have romantic presence and a kiss scene, but is was a really shallow romance and unnecessary since it didn't really tug at any emotions. Tyler just seemed unnecessary altogether, both to the plot and to the readers.
