Weird advert for Salisbury businesses and classic tired trope of an autistic savant solving crimes with rubbish misinformation about neurodiversity.

This book was good, but not exciting. I liked the storyline but it wasn’t very gripping.

Absolutely loved this book and I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Atticus Priest is a down on his luck ex-cop turned private detective. (*yawn*)

"Mack" Jones is a play it by the book detective (*yawn*)

Both are on opposite sides of criminal investigation, where they don't put aside their differences and work together (which is a twist).

Only Atticus's special skills (breaking into places and nosing around) can uncover what happened on Christmas Eve.

Thankfully, the end resolution is convincing, and one obvious twist didn't twist quite as I expected.

But the characters aren't new or interesting enough to compel me to read more of the series.

Auf den ersten paar Seiten schon finde ich es unerträglich schlecht geschrieben.

Average at best. It was pretty obvious since the beginning who the killer was despite the book's efforts to lead you somewhere else. Mack spends more time neglecting her family and thinking about how attractive she still finds Atticus than actually doing her job and she is kind of incompetent as a detective regardless, mostly to highlight Atticus' brilliance, which read as arrogance from time to time. My favourite character was the dog Atticus was taking care of. Not continuing with the series.
