Don't read this for a dive into the historical period. This is ridiculous and fluffy, but festive and sweet. A riff of of the concept of the Home Alone movie. With that as the inspiration, I think you can know what level of silliness to expect. There are festive vibes and trappings. This is super short, so don't read this if you are not prepared for instalove. It is entertaining and has a holiday mood. If that is all you require, you will be just fine reading this. Like holiday candy, it melts quickly and is forgotten. I am between a 2.5 and a 3 for this because I would have liked a little more believeability and development to the relationship. But a 2.5 would be punishing the book for something it never pretended to be striving for.

Main character stepped in a groundhog hole. In London. For a historical novel in a real place, please Google if animals exist there while writing the book

2 stars plus half a star for Mr. Shorty the corgi and a hot Welshman (or the "sheepish" Welsh earl)
See my comment on my review for Gideon to partially understand my obsession with Welshmen.

This was my first Megan Frampton and it was so punny funny! Lady Pearl is left Home Alone when her mother, the duchess forgets her in her rush to pack up the carriage with christmas gifts to return to the country; and Owen the grumpy earl is staying at his godmother's London townhouse because he's there to see a doctor about his injured leg and shoulder. He's a long-suffering brother to 4 sisters who don't understand him and have no patience for his puns so when he meets Pearl who plays along and is happy to take care of him, he falls and falls hard. This was an unexpected delight.

This was a delightful holiday romp with many of my favorite tropes: long walks, sleepovers, snowed in, cute dogs, and grumpy next door neighbors. I’d absolutely read it again next Christmas.

This was very cute. To be honest, I think most of Megan Frampton's stories are best suited to be novellas.

THIS WAS SO GOOD AND SO SOFT! A Christmassy historical romance between a grumpy (but actually the softest) earl, Owen, and Pearl who longs for adventure. It was so romantic, sweet, cozy, steamy, and just SO FUCKING LOVELY AND FUN. I rounded it up to 5 stars cause I just had such a great time with it. Go read it!!! It's so quick to read as well, it's only 160 pages.

"The Earl's Christmas Pearl" by Megan Frampton was a delightful Christmas romance. I found it to be a witty and charming story featuring endearing, well-developed main characters in Lady Pearl Howlett and Owen, the Earl of Llanover. Pearl, who finally had the opportunity to step out of the shadows cast by her four sisters, turned out to be very sweet and adventurous, with an excellent sense of humor. She did a wonderful job of coaxing Owen out of his grumpiness.

As for Owen, I loved how endearingly awkward he was in conversation. He tried so hard, but until he met Pearl, Owen could never quite figure out the right things to say. The banter between the two of them was quite amusing, and I thought it was really cute when they teased each other or made silly jokes and puns.

Overall, I loved this story and thought it was a great way to wrap up the Duke's Daughters series. I am very much looking forward to Ms. Frampton's next book!
