My least favourite book of the Anne series. This story seemed more like Captain Jim’s story rather than about Anne & Gilbert’s newlywed life. They seemed to be the secondary characters of their own story. Meh.

Anne's House of Dreams, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Loved this book. Looooooved this book. Sobbed. Laughed. Smiled. Felt all the feels.
Anne and Gilbert finally enter into that fresh stage of life - marriage. They find a home to share and love together, and in it experience both joy and loss. I deeply enjoyed the new characters introduced (I know I say that with each book. LM just writes such great characters): Poor, sweet Leslie and precious ole Captain Jim and sassy Cornelia ("isn't that just like a man"

I love this series so much. This book was beautiful and heartbreaking just like it’s predecessors... I will say I missed Diana and Anne’s other friends, none of whom appear in this one. Although I do love the new characters.

I don't know why people don't like this book.

This is truly a solid 3.75 stars for me. Though I would usually rate anything by L. M. Montgomery 5 stars, I had some trouble getting through the first part of this book. Though I love Anne and Gil, this book felt just so lonely to me with Anna and Gil living seemingly alone and away from the world and dear old friends. At some points I couldn’t stand it! Other than 3 interesting characters, there really is no more than 5 people the first part of the book, and personally, this bothered my soul to no end. However, the Beautiful writing and satisfying ending made me happy I had read the book.

I thought I had never read this book, but I was evidently mistaken! Every book in this series has its share of ups and downs, but this installment had the most devastating heartbreak. There was heartbreak on more than one front, but beauty and healing were still right around the corner. Here we have Anne fully grown and embarking on married life. Her joys are now deeper, but her sorrows are those of an adult, as well. She manages to deal with them gracefully, and makes some remarkable new friends in the process. Captain Jim is a lovely man, and I thoroughly enjoyed him. I’ve been enjoying this series immensely, but this particular book was definitely sadder than preceding novels. Only three more to go! And I'm positive I've never read these last three. Really, I am.

I don't think there is a book about Anne that I would not love. The characters in this new chapter of Anne (and Gilbert's life) are just as intriguing as those in Avonlea, and although there was some sadness, I feel so invested in Anne's happiness that I was overjoyed at the joys.
