The plot? Predictable, yet still enjoyable.

The characters? Loveable.

Spoiler: The BIRTH CONTROL?!?!?!
No. Just no.

DNF at 57%

Maybe one day I'll pick this one back up but right now it's just not capturing my attention at all.

I still really enjoyed this book, but I did feel like the pace slowed way down and the main conflict of the story was very quickly and easily taken care of without much buildup. A quick kidnapping/murderer showdown, and bam, done. Then we have the secondary conflict that felt glossed over which was Calista's father being murdered by Hayden, and it turned out that the father was not a horrible guy/murderer that Hayden thought he was. Which we sort of figured out last book, but I was thinking/hoping that was a red herring and he was going to end up being a bad guy and not just the politician who had a shady investor in his younger years. Also, I wasn't a big Hayden fan in this book, when I loved him in the first. He became entirely unreasonable and dictatorial on every single aspect of her life, including
Spoilerhaving the OBGYN give her a saline shot instead of the birth control shot, not giving her clothing when she didn't pack within his time frame for a "trip" she was being forced to go on, tattooing "Mrs. Bennett" on her while she was unconscious, and not giving her any slack or trying to be kind when he KNOWS that he murdered her father when he was innocent.
Hayden was just a downer for me in this book, even though there were moments where he was still hot as hell and where his obsessive/possessive behavior was enjoyable like book 1. Then there was Calista who slowly became more subdued and let Hayden dictate everything when she fought him constantly in the first book. Which I guess isn't that strange seeing as he is manipulative and possessive and their relationship isn't exactly a healthy one. Really, Harper is still the best part of this story, and I am sort of sad that we didn't get much of her in this one.

Now You're Mine picks up where the first book (Once You're Mine) left off.

**Spoilers if you did not yet read the first book. **

The book starts off with Calista finding the pearls in the pocket of Hayden's coat and realizing HE is her stalker.   I expected a lot more emotion out of Calista when this happened but I was disappointed.

Calista is LESS oblivious during this book but more insufferable. Her and Hayden go on a "vacation" of sorts and he surprises her by paying for school - Which she is excited about.  However, when he gives her a laptop for said classes THAT was drawing the line.  Her reactions didn't make sense.

Her reaction to receiving the laptop as a gift is probably the most emotion we see out of her during the entire book.  YES, even when she finds out Hayden's dirty little secret.

The ending happened rather abruptly and mostly while Calista was unaware so it was rather anticlimactic.

Overall, I was rather disappointed in this. There is sooo much potential and I think the author has great plots, they just need to be explored more.  This could have rivaled Haunting Adeline for me, but instead of fighting sex trafficking, a vigilante that "takes care" of dangerous criminals who evade the justice system.  Add in the search for WHO is responsible for the starburst pill.  The author can write interesting characters (I love Harper). I will keep an eye out for more releases because while I was disappointed in this, I see the potential.

I should have DNF’ed this. My faith in the author and FMC were misplaced.

This story is a absolute garbage. This guy is a certifiable criminal and nut job and this poor girl is not much better. He orders a medical professional to swap her birth control shot with saline, doesn't ever tell her even after she comes back and forgives him for her father's murder, stalks her beyond to point of "okay this isn't funny anymore even for dark romance" and don't even get me started on his bullshit act of branding her with a tattoo without her permission, which he did WHILE SHE WAS RECOVERING after fainting from getting a messed up package from her sexual assaulter. Absolute TRASH of a story
