Hahahahhahaha I think the best line out of this whole book was "...the sound was music to my dick." It'll probably stay with me forever.

It took me a few weeks instead of a few days to read this...for me it was slow going and I was not that interested in it until I got about 80-85% done and then it was great. I am hoping for another book to continue Christian's story.

I usually stay away from POV reads because they never really offer anything different. I picked Grey up and off of the “New & Now” section in the library out of sheer curiosity.

When I discuss the Fifty Shade trilogy with people I usually tell them that I read it at just the right time. I was a freshman in college (I think) and didn’t really have much grasp on romance, kinky sex or any of the anomalies that make people hate Fifty Shades so much. I didn’t really have any strong feelings about it. I mainly read it because of the hype behind the sex scenes. While I never got why people hated it so much (still kinda don’t), I never thought Ana was too bright.

Ask a guy to spank ya and then get mad that he gave you what you asked for? Laughable.

However, at age 19, I still saw the enchantment in Christian Grey being a scorned enigma.

Grey successfully stripped me of that fascination.

There weren’t many elements introduced that made me understand more about Christian. The main things that gave a good glimpse of his psyche that we hadn’t heard before were childhood flashbacks. Grey begins with them and they appear throughout in the form of nightmares. We know why he goes out of his way for Anna and how she affects his state of mind.

Not that I was ever interested in this component, but I still don’t understand what Christian does for a living. I just know that he’s rich enough to do it  call an assistant or two and have them complete his everyday minuscule tasks. Nevertheless, the talk about his work is boring and unnecessary.

One person I wish Christian had talked about is Elena. I wanted to know why and how she enchanted him into The Life. There’s very little to be said about her other than her intrusive text messages, whatever remaining hold she has on Christian, and whatever he tells Ana. Since we don’t know their story and somehow Elena is still in his life, I really only had Ana’s opinions to go on so  the more the defends Elena, the more uncomfortable i became since Christian Grey comes off as a rape
apologist.

Overall, this book is long for no reason. I would only recommend it to Fifty Shades
superfans who just “can’t get enough.

SN: Was it just a coincidence that Elena and author share same initials? (E.L.)

Happy Reading!

3.5 stars. I didn't feel like the emotions Anna described were as intense in his point of view. Was she super sensitive or did he think he wasn't reacting like he was?

I listened to this one to kill some time before a book club meeting I had coming up. Since I’m familiar with the story I knew it wouldn’t confuse things in my head with the book club book I had just finished.

I thought getting some insight in to Christian’s perspective was a great add to the story from Fifty Shades, which was Ana’s perspective. It shows you how much he grows in his thinking and his need for Ana.

I'm really glad it has been a few years since I read the first 3 and I have never watched the movie. It made reading this book a little more enjoyable.

So.... I really enjoyed reading things from his perspective. However, just like the first fifty shades there were some points where it just kinda dragged on. I still loved the book though

I like the book as it is the Christian version of Fifty Shades of Grey. The language was super easy to read and once you start reading you can't stop. It's wonderful this can be identified as descriptive and narrative text as I think. The pace of the story was a little bit slow which is totally understandable. It contains many events which is not suitable for kids who want to read this. Genres which it covers are Romnce, Psychological, Dark and Fantasy.Overall it's a nice books.

Not different enough from the original trilogy (which wasn’t that good to begin with). So much potential, and a serious lack of character development.
