Another Fun Read in this Cozy Mystery by Joanne Fluke!!
I read Book 1 a few years ago for a Readathon so when i was given this Prompt with Food on the Cover for Bookish Jeopardy i instantly knew "Oooh i can Read Book 2 in Hannah Swensen Series for this one" and im glad i did cause i loved this one as well.
The Characters were so interesting and loveable to read about. Hannah is still my favorite character as well as some of the other characters in the book.
The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was in the book with the characters while reading.
Overall a Good Cozy Mystery!! Can't wait to read Book 3 in this series soon!!

Just as good as the first book. They're obviously not any kind of literary masterpiece, but they're cute, quick and exciting reads.
I don’t recall when I last visited with the fictional Eden Lake, Minnesota bake shop owner, but it’s been too long. I’ve not read this series in any order, so I won’t encourage you to do that. But it was fun to go back and fill in data that the author assumes you know in subsequent books.
Boyd Matson is a high-school coach and a wife beater. The promoters of a bake-off contest have chosen him as one of the judges along with Hannah Swensen, of course. Boyd says some nasty things about the contest entries he tastes, and before the night ends, Hannah gets a call from his battered wife, Danielle, who begs Hannah to come to the Matson house. When she arrives, Hannah finds Boyd in the garage with his head bashed in by a hammer from his tool shelf. Naturally, the cops assume Danielle lashed out in self-defense. She presents early in the book with a black eye and a bad cold. But Hannah doesn’t believe she killed her husband. The cops hospitalize Danielle, and while they initially don’t arrest her, she’s someone they’re considering.
Hannah and her sister, Andrea, suspect a local newspaper reporter of potentially blackmailing townspeople, and they wonder whether the reporter had blackmailed Boyd Matson. With help from the local dentist, who kept the woman in his chair long enough for Hannah and Andrea to search the apartment, the sisters break into the house only to be frightened minutes later by an incessant knocking. It turns out to be a woodpecker. Seriously, you can’t tell a woodpecker’s knock from something more human? That section of the book messed with my disbelief meter big-time—pegging the needle for sure. But the search of the woman’s apartment turns up juicy stuff. Can she really be a killer, and you learn that less than halfway through? Don’t be so sure. In fact, if you guess the killer, it won’t be at 45 percent.
The bottom line here is this was a fun read that took almost no time at all. This may not cure COVID-19, but it cures the silliness and stress that accompany the news.

So far every Hannah Swenson book I have read I love. They are easy enjoyable books and I love the recipes in the books. The ones I have tried are delicious. Any cozy style mystery catches my attention well and usually keeps me guessing as I work out the clues like Hannah does in the books.
Okay now. The rating is 2 stars (rounded down from 2.5 stars), but you know how sometimes even when you know something is trash but you can't look away? Or you find yourself going back to it? That's how I think I feel about this series.
I enjoyed this a little bit more than the first in its series, and that might simply be because things that felt tedious in the spoken form were easily skimmed over without much consequence (for me, anyway) in the text form.
Is it life changing? No. Is it a masterpiece? No. An easy read without much brain power required? Yes. Sometimes that's exactly what you want, and in this way, this book delivered. Because I'm currently at a busy time of my life with a lot of stress, easy reads like this are welcome. So, I am probably going to read a few more in the series in the short term.

This series has proved to be full of fun! I actually thought this book was a little better than the first. And the last recipe...the shortbread chocolate bar things! OMG-i'm going to have try those!
