I have questions. A lot of questions.

First off, Charcoal Tears was an okay start to this series. In it, you will meet Seraph, Cabe, Noah, Miro, and Silas. Oh and Seraph's brother and dad as well. Now her life isn't all rainbows and sunshine. It's the complete opposite because her mom is gone and her dad is a drunk asshole who likes to scare the living shit out of his kids. Since Seraph is older than her brother she always goes into the house first and puts herself in front of her dad so her brother can go to his room safely.

Now I hated her dad - like so freaking much. I was kind of hoping he would get the shit beat out of him and die or something. Either by her powers or by the guys. I wasn't really picky when it came down to it because I just wanted him gone from their lives.

Then there's the guys and honestly they annoyed me so much. The whole I like you but we can't do anything but shake elbows or whatever needed to go. It was pretty obvious to anyone with eyes how they all felt about her and vice versa. Yet they took their sweet ass time to form a bond. A single freaking bond. I guess I can be okay with that but I was really hoping that both bonds would be formed before book 2.

Other than that, she has a creepy ass stalker and I have absolutely no idea who it is. I like the little hint at the end that she saved him but he's just really creepy and loves fear. Blegh. I can't wait for more hints to ignore because I just want to know who it is before the series is over. If the big reveal is dumb I will be highly disappointed.

I guess I will go dive into the next book.

Addictive

This was amazing! I have quickly begun to love this author. She really knows how to draw you in and leave you wanting more! This book held so much suspense, and pulled strong emotions. Fear, excitement, loss, heat! Can’t wait for book 2

I'm starting Charcoal Tears: I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this book. I keep vacillating between love, hate, and frustration.

Don't get me wrong. The story is good. It moves at a good clip and it's written well enough (there were a couple of grammar errors here and there).

My biggest annoyance with this book are the characters' actions. THEY DON'T MAKE SENSE. Why the hell do Cabe and Noah get so obsessive and touchy-feely with a girl they've known less than a week? AND why does Seraph let them? I don't care about that crap about their 'bond' or whatever. There are ways to portray feeling a connection without it being physical.

Plus, the character's personality seem either one-dimensional or confusing. I can't get a good read on Seraph's personality - I'm not sure if she's acting like herself [i.e. before she meet the guys] or if her personality is being seriously affected by being around the guys. Her personality just doesn't seem consistent to me.

So I finished this book and I have settled on frustration.

It ended in a cliffhanger and in general, it felt incomplete. Even when the authors gave answers, they weren't complete. It's quite infuriating.

Plus, I still think the characters are one-dimensional. Not much of the guys' personalities or their background are revealed in this book. The author focused on one aspect for each guy - Cab being devilish, Noah, being sweet, Miro being very pleasant and persuasive, and Silas being dark and violent.

Overall, this was a disappointing read. The book had a lot of potential in the beginning, but it went all downhill as the guys got more and more involved in Seraph's life and started making huge life decisions for her, without really consulting her. It was also annoying how the main character didn't question what was happening and just went along for the rest of the book.

Enjoying this!

Really enjoying this one- love all the school scenes. I do wish we had more info as the story moved along - hate how much the guys are keeping from her and don’t know enough yet to know if those actions are justified or not. This seems like a super slow burn series.

I feel like there should be a warning label on some YA romance novels letting you whether or not any hanky panky will occur in the book. In the case of the Seraph Black series, you should know that our main girl Seraph remains a virgin until the last chapter of book 4. Even then it's only a couple of paragraphs with one out of four of the guys she's bonded to.
Other than that major let down this book was a good read I enjoyed the world-building the mystery and the characters. However, I feel like there should be a breaking point for how much trauma and pain one person should endure but our Seraph takes its all in stride and is made of stronger stuff than the average Zev.

This was soooo good! I was really enjoying myself. And I love the characters! I do wish I could get to know the twins more. And sometimes I felt like they were kind of assholes to her. But then again, they never claimed they weren’t like that. Lol overall, a good storyline and I need to know more! My Curiosity is killing the human. Lol

This was the first New Adult, as well as reverse harem, series I'd ever read. I have to admit I loved it! It's a page-turner that sucked me in and didn't let me eat or sleep for days because I had to know what happened next.

Was it perfect? No. There were some editing issues. I had to read many paragraphs over a few times to understand what actually happened, particularly in action sequences. And even though the story is set in the U.S., the grammar and spelling is in British English. The spellings didn't bother me as much as the grammar, such as using "to" instead of "than" (as in "This is different to that."). And the characters used the phrase "freaking out" far too much, which made the older characters sound much less mature than they otherwise were.

But the romance scenes were great, as were the primary and secondary characters. Some of them had a great sense of humor that I've rarely come across in books. When I finished with this series, I immediately wanted to find more like it to fill the void it created in me. However, I have yet to find anything quite like it. I look forward to re-reading this series, and hope to see what else the author writes in the future.
