A long time fan of John Grisham , I enjoyed this sequel to his first novel---A Time To Kill. The audio version brought the story to life, though parts were very difficult to hear, concerning racial violence. Excellent courtroom drama and interesting to learn how the lawyers prepare for trial.

Powerful story. Readers who have read and liked A Time to Kill by Grisham, will appreciate the subplot of Jake and Carla trying to move on with their lives after the Carl Lee Hailey trail. The main plot focuses on a death, a contested will, and race. The powerful ending reminds the reader that race discrimination in the south was cruel, fatal and is not as far in the past as we would wish.

I love the characters that this author introduces you to. They are real. You can feel what they feel. They are deep and complex just like you would meet in real life. While the legal aspects of these types of books maybe don’t make my heart pump

Great book, John Grisham is such a wonderful writer and does such a great job of drawing you in. Can't give it 5 stars though because I did figure out the final plot twist well before the ending of the book. Still absolutely worth the read!

Enjoyed walking back into Jake's world!! Great story, but I gave it a 4 because it didn't end with the twist I was sure was coming. It was predictable 2/3 of the way into the story.

Excellent storyline and awesome narration for the audiobook! Felt like I was listening to old friends tell a story. Loved it!

Exactly what I wanted. Light read, a bit predictable, fun characters. John Grisham is a perfect palate cleanser, used in between deeper books.

While I do think that some parts of this book were drawn out, I found it to be a good read. The story line was intriguing and the twists in the story made you want to know how it all ends. My husband, mom, and I all finished this book on the same day, so we should have an interesting discussion over dinner.

John Grisham just does it for me. He doesn’t waste time being verbose or filling pages with flowery language. He’s here to tell a story, a really good one, and he tells it. Without being annoying he fills out his characters well, and lets you form your own opinion about them. This will probably be the best thing I read in 2021 and I’m so sad it’s over.
