We have this out right now from the library and it is such a cute book. I love the illustrations and the colors used to relay how wonderful Spring is!! Spring is my favorite season and this book captures all that you love (the blooming flowers, birds chirping, being able to go outside) with what you get frustrated about (snow, rain, wait - more rain??).
My daughter loves it so much and I wish there was one for every season :) Highly recommend for all those young readers!

I always like Kevin Henkes. And Laura Dronzek's illustration style is sweet and pleasant to look at. It's a nice book, but not outstanding. It's a good addition to a spring themed storytime.
Picture book. Seasons. Nature.
Story: Starting from winter and moving forward, this book describes changes in nature that happen as spring comes.
Language: Full page illustrations accompany single sentence text, making this book easy to read for new readers.
Characters: Nature is the main character of the book, featuring trees and flowers and more.
A good short and fast storytime book.

I was so glad to see this book a little early - it's featured in our Book Fair.
Absolutely loved it - wonderful to see Kevin Henkes as the author and his wife, Laura Dronzek, as the illustrator.
The illustrations are gorgeous, the words are softly spoken and absolutely compliment the pictures. The Henkes' family are Wisconsin dwellers and I see the midwest depicted beautifully in this book.
Cannot wait to own it this week!

This is best for regions that have a lot of snowfall in winter, so I skipped over the page spread about snow while reading this during storytime. I also don't love the ending, which is about how now that spring is here, you have to wait for summer. However, the illustrations are lovely, and the book goes through lots of common experiences related to spring.
Update: I used this for storytime again this year, and I included some interactive elements, like making animal sounds, which the kids seemed to enjoy.

Very cute. Reminded me of the simple, idyllic wonder of my own childhood, the earliest part of which I spent in England. More of the text delighted me than didn't, and the illustrations reminded me so much of my youth that I couldn't help but be charmed.
A great book to show the slow and gradual process of spring arriving. My kids love responding to the questions asked "Do you like mud? Do you like rain?"
This is a colorful picture book that is great to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to the concept of spring. Snow melting, blossoms blooming, eggs hatching, seeds growing, rain and wind are all mentioned. My three year old loved it.
I was disappointed when I learned that Henkes didn't do the illustrations for this book, but then Adrienne pointed out he didn't illustrate [b:Birds|6084058|Birds|Kevin Henkes|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347844641s/6084058.jpg|6260837], either, which I love and read in storytime (same illustrator for both books). So that brought me around. This was adorable, and would be perfect for a toddler/preschool storytime about spring.
My favorite illustration was the melting snowman, because it reminds me of this particular snowman I built when I was a kid. It was small to begin with, and then I sprayed it with the hose (?) presumably so it would solidify and last longer. It was totally bizarre-looking, and ended up being this rock-hard hunk of ice that sat in my parents' backyard until April. :)
