Definitely enjoyed the first one more with its podcast element. This one was all crime mystery and action, betrayal and conspiracies. I'm glad I finished the series, but the lost of the podcast element took away its uniqueness.
The mystery itself was a mess, but kept a very action crime tone throughout. It felt predictable and I felt I knew the outcome by the 25% mark. I did love how badass Regan was in this one and that she finally had closer. I was sad that her partner, Tommy, wasn't in this book more as i enjoyed their relationship way more than with the other men.
Overall this was fine, but it definitely threw me off with the change in tone.

Well-rounded characters, intricate plot. Kept me guessing for most of the ride.

While I really enjoy Regan as a character and it was nice to get more of her story, this was just so boring. The first book had some really cool elements like the podcast and the college campus itself, but this didn’t have any of that. This was such an insular, run-of-the-mill detective story that it was hard to be that invested. I’ll pick up other works by Allison Brennan though because I do really like her writing and concepts overall.
The closure she needed. Her ex made me so mad in this. I guess he sort of redeemed himself but seemed a little too late.

This book had a great overall story, but it was repetitive and somewhat redundant in places. It definitely kept me hooked though, because I needed to find out how deep the corruption went!
