Overall, I thought this book was very valuable. In addition to the sort of philosophical and sentimental advice he gives, there's a lot of real practical information and tips. I took notes and I definitely think that this will be helpful for me when I declutter my childhood home. The only thing was that a lot of the advice seemed geared toward the elderly or two people clearing out the home of a loved one who has died, so that wasn't really relevant to me. I'm also not moving, so that was in relevant to me either. But the parts of the book that were relevant to me were definitely helpful I think, though it remains to be seen how I put them into action.

This is a great book on how to declutter while still keeping the things that mean something to you. As an avid "keeper" I will be using some of Paxton's tips to help thin down my own things before I need to.

This was a helpful book. There were some fresh ideas in it. There is a slight focus of older people cleaning out their homes, instead of people looking for help getting rid of things, but the ideas still apply. This would be a great book for older people to read to help them sort through their lifetime of possessions. It made me want to check out his TV show. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a different way of viewing their stuff.

Wish I had the bonus pdf. This book was decent and semi-practical.

His mission statement: Help people simplify their lives by realizing the value of their memories.

If you think you'll use an item in one month then keep it otherwise get rid of it.

When moving, pack the toiletries last so they can be used until you're ready to leave and then they can be unpacked first when you get to your new place.

Ask these questions to your loved ones:
1) Where did you grow up? How long did you live there? What did it look like?
2) What did you do for fun in High School?
3) What was the first job you got paid for? And how much did you get paid?
4) Tell me about your childhood best friend and your best memory of him?
5) What was your first car?
6) Who was your first love?
7) What was your favorite place you have ever visited? Who were you with and how did you get there?
8) Who or what inspires you?
9) What is the most challenging thing you have ever accomplished and why was it so difficult? Why did you do it?
10) What is the one thing you want everyone to know about you when you are gone?

I’m already thinking of all the people I want to give this book to :) Having seen my mom go through the process recently of cleaning out her parents’ house, the topic has been on my mind. Loved Paxton’s combination of stories from his work and practical tips. Wished the book had been a bit longer so more stories could have been included.
