This is the 2nd book in the Lakeshore U series, but 4th story overall. They can all be read as standalones, but you will get minor spoilers from the previous book. These books keep getting better and better. I feel like as the series continues, the stories get deeper with the different traumas and struggles and I love and appreciate that. This makes the stories and characters more real for me.

As soon as I heard Mason was getting his own story, I knew I was going to love him. I just love me a grumpy alpha-hole, who has doesn’t let anyone know what he feeling and always has his guard up. He always assumed the worst when it came to Harper and I love how she just kept chipping away at his hard exterior and burrowed her way into his heart. UGH!!! I loved reading about Harper’s growing relationship with Aurora, as Harper really felt like an outsider to me. Never really had any true/deep/meaningful connections with anyone.

The relationship between Harper and Mason is more of a slow burn and when they finally cross that line and get together, ITS HOTTTTTT. I could not get enough of Mason and Harper. Scottie though def was a scene stealer.

I could not put this one down and read in less than 24 hours. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, it’s def become one of my favorite hockey series out there and LA is def becoming an auto-buy author for me!

Tropes:
-Hockey romance
-Grumpy x Sunshine
-Coach’s daughter
-Found family
-Autism rep
-Celiac rep

Thank you to the author for providing me an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

On thin ice is the first book by LA Cotton I’ve read. It’s a grumpy x sunshine hockey romance. Mason, a university hockey star, is icy and very unlikable at first, but once we get to see him interact with his brother, there’s another side of him. The FMC Harper is very positive and likeable despite all her insecurities and despite her father being almost as misogynistic as mine.
What to expect:
Grumpy x sunshine
Coach’s daughter who’s never enough for her dad
Hockey games and stats
Autistic little brother with a deadpan sense of humor

This book is sweet and very well written. The FMC and MMC have a angsty start to their relationship, but when the MMC’s younger brother becomes attached to the FMC it’s game over. I love that the MMC’s younger brother has autism and it is so well displayed throughout the whole story. The relationship building was really well done and the overall story was a cute HEA. I loved listening to this audio book and entering into my hockey era 🖤

On Thin Ice is the second book in the Lakeshore U series by L.A. Cotton. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was so much angsty and sexual tension between Mason and Harper that I couldn't get enough of it. Mason was so grumpy but once he realized his feelings towards Harper he was so swoony. The spice was hot in this book, and I loved it. I loved seeing all of Mason's teammates throughout the book. I can't wait to read more of this series! Thank You again Forever and Always PR for an ALC of this book. I received an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Found family vibes

Oh buddy did I hate Mason at first 😂. So much. I remember starting it before I hopped into the shower and literally saying out loud as I washed my hair “god, this guy is a fucking asshole” 😂.

BUT that feeling quickly faded as I learned more about him.

Both Mason & Harper are dealing with and carrying a lot of trauma from their childhood, and Mason has a lot on his shoulders. I appreciate how these topics were dealt with. It felt relatable and realistic and really added to the depth of the characters, making me love them more.

The relationships are what really makes this story though. Not just the budding one between Mason and Harper- but the existing friendships (the guys are HILARIOUS) as well as the new ones that are made (especially Harper & Aurora). And the relationship between Harper & Masons younger brother, Scotty was absolutely everything.

I absolutely loved the found family vibes that this book gave me.

Stella & Teddy are sooo freaking good together. More of this pair, please.
Teddy brought Mason to life perfectly. The grumpy asshole hockey player who on the surface doesn’t seem to care about much, but who has a heart of gold and would do anything for his family.

This was my first Stella book (I know, I know *hides*) and I freaking love her. I think she perfectly captured Harper. She has that sunshine exterior but she also has a vulnerable side that she tries hard to hide.

A grouchy stoic hockey player Mason Steele goes from hating the sh*t out of Harper Dixon to falling head over heels for her.
Harper is your blonde bombshell but only on the exterior she's so much more than her outward appearance. She's just a girl that's yearning for love that she was deprived as a child.
Mason the hot grumpy hockey player, definitely did get on my nerves at the beginning he judges Harper initially thinking she just another puck bunny that's interested in him(yes she makes the first move). The more she's around him he realises that he'd misunderstood Harper and gives her the love she needed.
Harpers issue with her dad, Masons relationship with his father and his autistic brother really added so much more depth to the story and the characters and bought these two closer.
Harper finds the love she deserves in the form of Mason and his family.

thank you to @foreverandalwayspr and @authorlacotton for sending this alc my way!!

on thin ice follows mason the grumpy, lakeshore u hockey player and harper dixon, the new assistant coach's estranged daughter. from the beginning, mason is gruff and completely uninterested in harper because he knows she wants a relationship and he doesn't have time for a relationship. but, harper's around constantly because her friends are dating other players on the team and she volunteers for the program his younger, autistic brother is part of. he can't get harper out of his head and he's not happy about it. harper chose lakeshore u because it was far away from her father (who never wanted a daughter let alone one with celiac), but now he's coaching the team. throw in that she can't seem to escape mason, the one guy who has absolutely zero interest in her (right?). harper doesn't want to feel something for the grumpy hockey player, but she can't help it.

i am full send in for the lakeshore u series after reading one thin ice!! i love me a grumpy hero and mason steele was the grumpiest 🤬 harper's familial trauma hit a little close to home and i thought that it was handled really well (i will kill her dad xoxo). i loved how mason fought his feelings for so long and that ultimately what brought him to acknowledge them was harper's relationship with scottie. it felt very real to the situation, especially because mason was so afraid of anyone hurting his brother. when the romance finally got to its tipping point, mason totally had the swoon factor and was the kind of man that would defend his girl at every turn. overall, this was a fun college hock#bookreviewer

also, this is continuing my teddy hamilton obsession because his voice for mason had me screaming!!! loved the audio for this so so much <3
