I was hoping for Harper by like 2/3 of the way through the last book. I dig her energy. I absolutely adored her and her story broke my heart.
If you ever feel like you’re too much just know you’re not.
You’re not too much and tell that coward to go find less.
Mason was the perfect grumpy to meet her sunshine and as he slowly lowered his walls to her and fell you really see him in his feels and squishy bits.
Scottie honestly stole this whole book for me. I loved him and I loved Mason and Harper more because of the priority they made him.

On Thin Ice, the second full story in the Lakeshore U series was a great read! I found myself frustrated with Mason for sure but honestly it was relatable and understandable why he was so reserved. Same with Harper. She really hasn't had the best relationship with any men throughout her life, including her dad who is upset that he never got the son he wanted to continue his legacy. I am such a sucker for a grumpy man and relishing the moment when the girl finally breaks his grumpiness. It always makes me smile! Make sure to check this one out (as well as the other Lakeshore U books) today, June 20th! Thank you so much to the author for the advance copy of this one!

Mason was forgive too quick but it was cute.
I was really looking forward to reading this because of all the hype around it, but it really let me down. I did not feel any chemistry or connection between the characters, the story & the characters were quite forgettable🤷🏻♀️
The MMC was so irritable and outright mean I felt like smacking him to get that meanness out of him. He took an instant disliking towards the FMC without any justification and used to find her very "irritating" without her doing anything!!! I felt like the 'hate to love' trope was forcefully incorporated in the book unnecessarily. The only thing I liked about the MMC was how caring and protective he was towards his younger brother.
Now coming to the FMC - she was an adorable and loving person but not a strong one who would stand up for herself, because it seemed like she had a major crush on the MMC & will grab anything he offers, without drawing any boundaries for her self respect. It was like he was in charge of all the gears as to where their relationship goes and she didn't have any say.

LOVING this series, and love the grumpy-sunshine tropes! Mason was SUCH a grump, so he took a minute for me to warm up to- but the way he was with his family was just adorable, and how he was at the end of this story once he got over his grumpiness and connected with Harper. And fortunately Harper as some steel. I really ADORED her! Both of these two have some issues, separate and together, but I loved watching them fall and reconnecting with our other characters. And Scottie -GAH, stole my heart. Great addition to this series that I'm love- LA Cotton's sports are always my favs!
I really liked this one. I'm always in for grumpy assholes and Mason definitely is one.
L.A. Cotton really let the characters grow throughout the story. The banter in this story was awesome. Harper is a great character and I loved the sidecharacters as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

*On Thin Ice* is book #2 in the Lakeshore U series from L.A. Cotton. This story focuses on Harper, Rory’s friend from class, and Mason, a left winger for the Lakers.
Harper was born with hockey in her blood. Her father played for the Lakers during his time in college and went on to the NHL until an injury forced him into early retirement. But her relationship with her father is nonexistent.
There’s more to Mason than being the broody, mysterious hockey player. His most important role is being his little brother’s hero. After their father walked out, Mason takes it upon himself to help support his single mother and care for Scottie, even while attending Lakeshore U. Mason puts their needs before his own - including an understanding that if it comes down to a choice between them and playing in the NHL, he'll choose them.
Yes, during his first interaction with Harper, Mason is… well, he’s nasty. But his spat with Harper came from a need to protect his friends and family. He has zero tolerance for b.s. He spots Harper’s masks for what they are - attempts at hiding the pain and rejection she feels on a daily basis.
Until they decide to spend one night together to 'get it out of their systems,' Mason is not a likable character. But man, when he redeems himself, he goes all out. It's hard not to fall in love with him as a character once he stops trying to push Harper away.
If you’re looking for an slow-burn, angsty, enemies to lovers story with a FMC who wears her heart on her sleeve, and a MC that has his priorities straight, *On Thin Ice* is for you!

On Thin Ice is the second book in L.A. Cotton's Lakeshore U hockey series, and this one is the best in the series. Masson is a grumpy, broody hockey hero. He also has a younger brother (Scotty) who has autism. He helps take care of his brother, and is sweet to his mother and brother. Harper is Rory's best friend and the coach's daughter, which she doesn't have a relationship with him. Harper has celiac disease, which was explored throughout the book.
Mason is really mean to Harper at the beginning, and assumes the worst about Harper, thinking she is another puck bunny. They verbally spar until Harper and Mason begin to see each other in a different light, especially when he learns that she works with Scotty at an autism program. Neither knew that Harper worked with Mason's brother until he picked him up.
L.A. Cotton did a very realistic job when she crafted Scotty's character and his experiences with socialization, autism, and puberty. I love the relationship that Mason and Scotty has, and the relationship that Scotty and Harper have. I love that it Scotty that helped Mason and Harper come together sooner than if they had been left to their own devices, because Mason really did not want to fall for Harper, but he fell hard!
The chemistry between Mason and Harper really good. The inner conflicts and the way each character handled them was good. I did not love the OW drama at the end, but ultimately, it did not hurt the plot and the romance in the end.
I received an audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review, so thank you to Forever and Always PR and the author! I am an avid audiobook listener, and Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter are favorites of mine! They did a phenomenal job as always telling Harper and Mason's story!
