Ewan has been searching for Grace for twenty years. Grace and her brothers think Ewan wants to kill her. Instead, Ewan wants to love her. The Grace he finds is not the Grace he expects to find. Instead, the girl he used to know, has become a magnificent woman, a woman who is unsure that she can trust (or even wants) Ewan to be a part of her life.

This is the third of the Bareknuckle Bastard series, and this book is really a redemption story for Ewan (Duke Marwick). That was satisfying. It was also satisfying to see Dahlia as a business woman and to peek inside the business that she has built. This book also was open door and had some really smoking hot scenes. Loved that!

I would have liked to have seen a stronger moment of forgiveness from Grace to Ewan. I did like when Grace and her brothers really understood the pain that Ewan had been through and the sacrifices he had made for them. That was a powerful moment.

It started strong... But then went into a repetitive cycle! Disappointed

The third book in the Bareknuckle Bastards series, and if I’m being honest, the one I was most excited about (despite the fact it took me a while to get around to reading it, purely due to my terrible memory for what I’m going to read next. I should write a good list).

The build up that Ewan and Grace got, particularly in the first book which did such a marvelous job of establishing the premise of the series, really set this book up for me.

I think something happened to Sarah MacLean between book 2 and book 3. Because hey, book 2 was great, I liked it a lot. But something happened, like a switch flicked, and SM’s writing just went to off the charts amazing. This was the leveling up of an author to the next stage in their writing abilities.

I read this book with so much delight. The turn of phrase, the descriptions, the pace and flow of the story, the energy and chemistry between the characters – it was all incredible.

I’ve read some great books so far this year, but this makes the top of the list. I loved it from start to finish.

If you want to know how good romance can be, this book will take you there.

I love all this hot angst!
