I really wanted to give this 5 stars. Once again, I fell in love with the characters, the setting, the badass women. The only thing i was not fully convinced of is Ewan, the hero. I am still having mixed feelings about him even though I know that everything was explained and he was not the monster everyone believed he was. My problem stems from the fact that I could not fully forgive him for his actions in the previous books. Still, I tried, and I enjoyed this book, although my favourite remains the second one in this series.
I'm very glad i discovered this author and I will definitely pick up other series from her. Looking forward to Hell's Belles!

I have been looking forward to this book for a year, and I am devastated by it. I love this author, I’ve loved most of her past books, but this one was an utter train wreck for me. Really, the entire series was a train wreck for me, in the end. It’s like the book couldn’t decide what it wanted to be, so it just threw everything in. UFC fighting? Check. Missing person come back to life? Check. Childhood love? Check. Rags to riches? Check. Stalking and pining? Check. One night stand, supposedly? Check.
Now, keep in mind this is a historical romance, because every person in this story has modern ideals and actions. I know that reading historical romance requires a fair amount of suspended belief, there’s nothing realistic about it. However, this book was over the top. Pants wearing woman owning a women’s only {dare I just call it a sex club??? I think the book calls it a “pleasure club”} club, with an all female security team, who UFC fights, has a modern philosophy on sex, gets around London only on rooftops, and I could go on. I just couldn’t anymore, the book was so ridiculous. I gave up at 64% and I won’t regret it for a minute.

4.5/5 stars
This was so good!!! The connection between Ewan and Grace was so strong, and it was such an emotional and wonderful romance. The smut was also *chef's kiss* and I just had so much fun reading this book. The only slight issue I had was the first half felt a little slower, and I wanted more content with the two MCs.

I've been a fan of Sarah MacLean for some time now. I really enjoyed the first two books in the Bareknuckle Bastards series and I've looked forward to reading Daring and The Duke, the final book in the series. To be honest, I was anxious going into the book knowing that Ewan, the male main character and Grace's love interest has been the villain in the previous books. There was going to have to be some serious explaining and some major redemption to make this happily ever after believable for me. After reading it, I know that I never should have doubted Sarah MacLean. I was really blown away by this book. I read it in two days. I didn't want to put it down, I was so drawn into the story. This book isn't a stand alone. You really need to read the first two books to really get the full story, and Daring and the Duke was a great ending to it.
One thing that I love about Sarah MacLean is that her work is so feminist. She writes such strong female characters who take control of their own fates and she does it in ways that are believable for the time period. I love the way she unabashedly centers female pleasure. But also focuses on women working together and helping and supporting each other.
There was truly a depth of emotion in this book. MacLean never fails at toughing at my heartstrings with characters who have had a tragic background but find their own ways to over come. I really loved the arc of Ewan and Grace's relationship. Friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again. I really wanted to hate Ewan throughout this book but I found myself feeling for him most of all. Reading this book, I felt like I could empathize with Ewan and Grace sooo much, wanting something you know you can't have and wanting something you know you shouldn't want. I was very happy with the way that the book ended. I loved that the characters were able to have their happy ending and stay true to who they were and what they wanted for themselves. This was a great read and as always I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

A story of young love, betrayal, heartbreak, penance, second chances, and love begun anew.
Minor: Child abuse
I didn't care about the characters. They seemed better apart than together so rooting for the romance was a nonstarter

I don’t know what to say other than I had so much fun reading this and I am going to read as much Sarah Maclean as I can get my grubby little hands on. What a fun concept this series was, what a cracking ending! I want this adapted into a Netflix series ASAP. We love men giving things up for women!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Hattie and Whit are my overall favourites, still - sorry, you simply cannot beat having a sweet tooth and getting deflowered in a reading nook, but Grace and Ewan had RANGE! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m fun and I love to have fun.
Sarah MacLean at her writing best: dukes giving penance for their sins. Loved it!
I forgot I suggested this at the library and then it popped up on my Libby. Save yourself some time- he’s not responsible for his actions cause he had sads and a bad dad. She doesn’t really care he tried to murder her brothers. Her brothers wife. Uh and did kill 5 boys... cause he had sads and a bad dad.
The heroine is edgy because she wears pants and is a madam. Tbh it wasn’t even a fun read
It’s a 2 star because at least the author wasn’t racist.
