I always saw this book every time I went book hunting. And I always thought it's one of those jeje stories. But lo and behold! I cried for like a good 5 minutes there. Despite of the inconsistencies, it's actually not bad.
From MY 14-15 year old perspective, I'm giving this 3.5-4/5 stars generously
*Includes my review on books by most Filipino wattpad authors. TL;DR at the bottom.
(I wouldn't consider it as a book though!)
I have read the unpublished version through wattpad years back, and I enjoyed it then. I still like it now. But not as much as I did before. I read it for my leisure, as a few friends of mine suggested that I should give it a go. It was the first story I have ever read at that site.
Looking back from now, I remember squealing because of different scenes from this book, with the kilig feeling, and the like. But if I were to review this critically... Remembering how the writing style was done, I didn't like it. There were too many emoticons, a lot of things were capitalized, and the excess punctuation marks make me feel...eh? I never expected this book to be published. I know it made a huge success in the internet community (candymag/wattpad), but I don't think it's enough for the real world. The publishing world. It was written unprofessionally, so I didn't really think it would be published. I never thought that any of the wattpad books I have read will be published. It's just not meant to be. They're corny, and they're made for the internet. Except for some. I guess. Most wattpad books are unoriginal. Most of them got their concepts from other stories, which really really sucks. It's like you're reading the same story again. It reminds me of fan fiction, most stories in wattpad are fan fiction. And I don't think that fan fiction should be published *ehem 50 Shades*. It should be remained in the internet. I know I sound so cruel with what I'm saying, but it's just a thought that came to my mind. Just now. But then again, I'm not generalizing this. Some wattpad stories are actually pretty good, and original. (eg. the Until trilogy by Jonaxx seems pretty unique to me)
Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. (I have said this a lot of times already, I know). It was cliché, but I loved cliché. It had a Korean feel, I loved korean drama/feels. I remember almost every detail clearly. With Kenji, Athena, the other Athena, Lucas (of course), and the like.
I know a movie adaptation starring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo already came out, but I don't think I'll be watching the film anytime soon. (I find this love team very overrated, and I have never really watched anything from this two. I never plan to do so.) I really find Filipino movies corny (though I have watched and enjoyed some. But I know I can count how many with my fingers). This is by far my favorite wattpad book. It made me shed tears, I really felt mentally unstable.
I'm rating this BASED on how I enjoyed it when I read it for the first time. I know people who read/write in wattpad would be very much offended with this post. I am unbiased with my standing. If I were to read this when I'm older, I would probably rate this very much lower.
TL;DR - Liked the (cliché-korean feel)story, not the writing style.
Not all wattpad books are written like this. Just so you guys know. There are some books that were well written, and so, I am not generalizing this post to all wattpad books. Most of what I am pertaining to, refers to the Filipino made books.
Honesty IS the best policy, right?

I'm not a KathNiel fan but the movie is better. Was curious after watching the movie but after reading the first three chapters, I gave up on this one. Jologs eh.
Plot is okay, though predictable and not quite unique. Writing is off. It's okay
This book was not a quality book. It was, in fact, kind of terrible. At the very least, it gets one extra star for helping improve my Tagalog.
I didn't like the published version as much as the original one. I think they removed a lot of scenes that I loved and which were important in the build up of Kenji and Athena's relationship.
This was the very first story that made me cry.
Seriously, the only reason why I read this was because my best friends made me read it. "It's a really good book!" They said. So to make them happy, I gave in. But I never expected myself to cry while finishing the book!
This story is a bit of a cliche, and has a simple plot twist that is also somewhat cliche but with Bianca Bernardino's writing it made me want to finish the book more.
I guess that's what's important, I guess. If you're writing a cliche story, just make sure that you'll write more interestingly on those cliche parts so the readers would continue reading instead of wasting their money on buying the book for 175 pesos (if I remember correctly).
I'm not going to tell spoilers here so I'll just make this review short.
This story is for teenagers who love sweet romances that are "The girl changed the boy" types of stories.
P.S.: It honestly surprised me how this story made me cry. I've never cried because of a book before. That's plus points for the author of SDTG :)

Even before all the wattpad fame, I was hesitant to read this book. I was thinking that maybe it's too corny or too sappy. After many months here I am finally reading and finishing the book. It made my eyes go teary. It made me gush. It made me sappy even if it's too corny and cheesy. It's too tragic like beyond Romeo and Juliet tragic. The ending sucks. But the story is really amazing. I can't wait to watch the movie.
I could tolerate up until to page 50 something and when I got to page 58, I realized things. This book doesn't deserve to be published. I'm sorry and I am very glad I just borrowed it from my cousin because I wouldn't think that it would be this bad.
It's one of the most popular Filipino published books and it's leveled with DNP (which I read the pdf file of and I really loved), I was hoping it would be a funny, light-hearted, has deep moments read.
But it had to be a waste of my time. There was no character development. I borrowed this book just because the guy's name is Kenji, and I know a Kenji Kashimoto, and he is very charming, very funny and witty. This guy is NOTHING like him. He just sees a girl and then he's gonna play her. And the girl LETS him play her. STUPID. And I feel like his character has no stable personality. One time he's in love with Abigail the next he's jealous of Lucas talking to Athena and then the next he tells Abigail that he loves her more than Athena. this is fucked up. And don't tell me its because of her cancer. Dude, bawal ang paasa. Kaya siguro naging ganun ang ugali ni Abigail kasi pinapaasa niya ng pinapaasa.
Athena Dizon. She topped America Singer from annoying me. Athena's got the potential to be a very great protagonist but she has to be dumb. She told her friend that she's gonna go with Kenji's stupid plan not just cause of Lucas. So she likes Lucas. And then she goes and spend time with the guy he hates and then now he loves and he's getting jealous and all that. You know what? That's how and why people can fool you. She's so gullible.
And then there's the cancer. I just skimmed these parts because i can't. i can't even. The two girls got cancer. This is very unrealistic. I can't.
Just a reminder, if you want to read this book. Don't. It's a waste of your time and money. Don't even be excited for it. Just don't get yourself near this book.

I'm gonna put in an honest rating according to what I read. 5 out of 5 stars.
But then I'm a reviewer myself so all these reviews right here are worthy to be here no matter what the reviewer said.
Ayoko talaga ng hate. Omg. Pero masakit lang na may ayaw ng isang bagay na sobrang ganda sa iba. Eh nga opinion nila yan so shut up nalang ako. xD
Anyway, I read this story when I was still in high school, young, so maybe I appreciated it so much. Sure the plot and story aren't original, the text have emojis that were not really necessary but still, this book is good.
So yeah..
bye...
