I was a little hesitating to start this book. I really liked the first book, but I heard that some others weren't that fond of this one. But, it seems that my taste is slightly different. I think this book was also very amusing and entertaining. Maybe the storyline felt a little weaker, but I didn't really have the feeling it really suffered from the middle book syndrome. And I actually really liked where the book ended and how it ended.

Harper is an interesting main character. She has those typical characteristics that could make her a mean girl, a miss popular, usually the antagonist in other books. And yet, she never becomes really mean or hard to connect with. She feels very human, overreacting at times and a little emotional mostly, but therefore realistic. It's easy to relate to her and to understand why she acts the way she does, even if it's sometimes not the smartest thing to do.

And the same goes for the entire group of friends and the dynamic between all of them. Bee, Ryan, David, they are all human, they mess up and make mistakes and that leads eventually to the end of this book. In a way this book is clearly a middle book, but a lot of things happen, relationships are built, broken and made stronger. Characters grow, learn and decide to either accept the future or not.

The plot might not always have the same tension as the first book, I do think the storyline has some great elements and some lovely scenes happening anyway. I can't wait, surely after that cliffhanger, to read how things will be in the next book and how this will all end.

FINALLY
FINALLY
I FINALLY READ THIS BOOK

Since I finish the first book and now I READ THIS
I loved Rebel Belle and I was expecting the same for this one, but... even I loved the fist this one was a little bit.. dissapointing. I mean, I like it but... I have too much expectatives for this book and It wasn't all I needed.

The story was more slow than the other and The things that happended here was less interesting. The ending was... GUAU AWESOME, I didin't expect that and it was a big surprise

I REALLY NEED THE NEXT ONE AND I NEED IT NOW I DON'T WANT TO WAIT A YEAR TO READ IT

4/5 and 7/10

So i know not a lot of ppl like this book but i actually really enjoyed it!
Don't get me wrong this book wasn't perfect and it definitely wasn't as great as Rebel Belle but that didn't mean it was bad at all. I almost felt like this book was way too short for my liking and I wanted more.

So this book didn't go down how I i thought it would....i thought this book would be focused on Harper trying to get Bee back but oh no she just magically appears at the Ephors headquarters all fine and dandy....ok. Although I did feel kinda sorry for Bee when no one remembered her at school but then immediately took that back when she started making out with Ryan.....im still not happy about that. I felt like that was so out of character for Bee as I thought she was extremely loyal to Harper but then she goes sneaking around with her best friends ex......yup ok.

Ryan fucked me off so much in this book, he lied, he cheated and was just all around being a prick and Bee and Ryan will never be an OTP for me. He especially pissed me off in the make out scene when he says to Harper, "Well I had to deal with you and David so you should accept Bee and I." WTF BITCH NO! DAVID WASN'T UR BEST FUCKING FRIEND SO HOW DID THAT "EFFECT" YOU! Plus he cheated on Harper with the whiney Mary Beth so fuck u too Ryan.

I just wanted Harper and David to be happy in this book and although the ending saddened me I know for certain Harper will go after David. The whole ending kinda confused me becuz Davids gonna be even worse on his own and what's gonna happen now that there's no more Ephors. Plus Is Blythe really dead???

Harper really got screwed over this book. She was lied to, manipulated and had so many secrets kept from her. All she wanted to do was keep David safe and try to fix things but everyone never believed in her. I felt sorry for her the whole time. But the thing is a lot of ppl mistake Harper as being rude and snarky but i don't see her that way at all. I think she's, sassy, confident and very driven in what she does and I love her for that.

Although this book wasn't the greatest and a lot of things left me confused and furious (mostly at Bee and Ryan) I really enjoyed the humor, action and romance. I have no idea where book 3 is heading but I hope i enjoy it!

This was a great continuation of a gripping story. The super natural came with unexpected twists and turns and the high school/ pageantry gave the expected drama.  The story  only took me a day to listen through it! I really enjoyed it! The characters grew in appropriate ways. The author built an interesting world and a story that is hard to walk away from.

Sometimes you just need a sweet, fun little read. Miss Mayhem fills that role perfectly. It may not hit as many high notes as its predecessor, Rebel Belle, but it still manages to be a pleasant read. Miss Mayhem picks up a few months after the events of Rebel Belle. Harper is trying to balance her role of Paladin with that of girlfriend, daughter, friend, ex-girlfriend. Oh, and she is also beginning a set of trials to test her skills as a Paladin that, if failed, may result in her death. No big deal.

Harper is still smart, strong, and funny, and the flip on stereotypical gender roles, having the female protagonist save the man, is still exciting and refreshing. This book also doesn’t continue to focus on the love triangle set up in Rebel Belle, which again is refreshing. Readers of YA have seen the love triangle done every which way, so it is great to see a triangle set up and resolved in book one, and then not revisited again in book two. This book also focuses more on friendship, both on Harper’s budding friendship with her ex Ryan, and on the re-cultivation of her friendship with her newly returned best friend, Bee.

The pacing of this novel is a little odd. It feels like not much happens plot wise, but there isn’t a whole lot of world/character building happening either. At the end of the 250 plus pages I felt like there should have been more, but at the same time the story felt sufficiently resolved. Needless to say, I did enjoy the ending. It gives the reader enough closure, while also providing a great setup for another story. (Also, Harper’s reaction to the events at the end of the story is perfect.) If we do see another installment of this series, I will likely pick it up. Miss Mayhem proves the sweet, Southern charm of this series still holds up.

I have heard mixed things about this book but for me it was great! I found myself eager to find out was going to happen next and I got to know more of the characters.

I'm annoyed by this because I was just expecting more. It just dissolved into a romance-fest, and I still have no idea what the plot is or who the bad guys are. Harper is still fantastic though. Review to come.

W H A T

I’m at this beautiful beach stress reading the ending of this book. I’m pretty sure I left a mark on my own wrist because I was clutching it so hard.

These books are predictable, but when you’re not very good at predicting things, it’s more fun :)
