Love it! So sensible

Very informative

I'm currently undergoing chemotherapy for bilateral breast cancer and got advice from a health nutritionist which contains many of the recommendations in this book. It was helpful to understand the rationale behind the diet, particularly as the medical professionals are surprisingly very unsupportive of healthy eating (and especially the 'diet' word) whilst on chemotherapy. The recipe ideas look very helpful.

3.5

clear and concise....evidence based explanations on an ongoing area of research

An interesting read based on good scientific research and reasoning. I haven't followed the 800 calories a day but have tried intermittent fasting which I have found to be quite successful, I will usually finish eating at around 8-9 and then not eat again till 9-10 in the morning. I found the 12-12 fast to be a very easy schedule to stick to and would be interested to include the New 5:2 into it at some point now that I have finished reading this book.

All up the recipes look really yummy and the diet itself looks to be minimal effort. Looking forward to seeing what Dr Micheal Mosley does next.

Accessible science: what more could you ask for?

So, if you eat very little you'll lose weight. Whoa. I think if you really want to read this book you need to listen to the criticism aswell, otherwise you might be left with a very skewed picture on how the body works. The diet itself probably does work, but probably not exactly due to the mechanisms and reasons Mosley presents. He is also cherry picking quite a lot and picks the anecdotes that suits him.

I read it out of curiosity on the debate around weight loss and fasting and I could have used my time a lot better.

I didn't feel like I learned anything new from this book, but it also didn't seem to have any egregiously incorrect information like you will normally find in diet books.
