You guys!!! I loved, loved, loved this book so much! If you read and loved the Chestnut Springs series and you miss it and want the same feelings you got from it, then read this! I can't speak for the whole series yet, but if the rest of the series is as good as book one then I can't wait. I ate this book up and finished it so quickly because I just couldn't put it down.
Sophie and her mom left her dad when she was 12 years old and moved from their ranch in Colorado all the way to New York. Twenty years later, without any word from her father for all those years, Sophie heads back to Poplar Falls for a funeral. There she meets the family that she believes her father replaced her with. And here is where she meets Braxton Young. The nephew of the woman her dad is now married to. Braxton is the surly rancher who spends all his time on the ranch working. He sees Sophie as a city princess who doesn't belong here.
This book is a slow burn and the spice is very tame, but don't think that means there isn't all the sexy angst between Sophie and Braxton. The chemistry between these two is so hot and I loved that the tension between these two just continued to build so much throughout the book. I loved that we got to see a little jealousy between them without them trying to make each other jealous. Everything just felt so natural between these two and I loved it. I loved that they really centered each other out and they were exactly what the other person needed, even though neither of them were looking for someone. And lastly I loved how protective Braxton was of Sophie at the end of the book. He was able to step up and make sure Sophie got what was best for her and what she needed, even if he had to put someone who raised him in their place. He put her first and I just melted so much at that.
What to expect:
~ Small town romance
~ Big city girl and small town boy
~ Rancher romance
~ Slow burn
~ Family drama

Rustic Hearts - Amber Kelly
Main Characters: Sophie & Braxton
Grumpy Cowboy, city girl, small town romance
Sophie returns to her small town after years of not speaking with her family. She meets Braxton who works the family ranch and can't stand her just as she can't stand him.
Over time both their annoyance of eachother is chipped away, bit the real reason Sophie was kept away comes to light and it changes everything.
For my first Amber Kelly book, she has quickly joined the list of my favourite authors.
The Poplar Falls series has characters all over the place you simply fall in love with.
Can't wait to read Dallas & Myer's story next!

One call that informs Sophia that the grandmother she has not seen since she was 12 years old has died sends her on a trip back to the family that she has not seen since she and her mother left for NY in the middle of the night. Armed with the stories her mother told her about the father who found another family to love, Sophia feels like an outsider. When she reconnects with the aunts and her childhood friend Sophia finally feels like she has found the things that were missing in her life, but once she learns the real reason for her parents split will that finally give her the answers she was looking for or will it cause more questions to arise? So many twist and turns to this story the reader will feel like they are on a roller coaster. Family drama is not the only storyline within the pages. There is also a beautifully love/hate relationship between Sophia and Braxton that is completely swoon-worthy. This was beautifully written and a must read.
