It sure was a Dresden Files novel!

It wasn't the best one, for sure. It was probably the strangest pacing I've seen thus far, but I did enjoy it.

He did shake up the series pathing a little, which is nice.
SpoilerEscalated tensions with Red Court, new antagonist for future resolution, and no more (for the time being) Susan.

This series is like TV for me. When I don't want to commit TOO MUCH to reading, and just chill out, I can always rely on these.

I will continue to read, and very likely enjoy this series.

More great expansion into Dresden's world with the Fallen & more Knights of the Cross -- and I especially appreciated the reappearance of Michael and Thomas, considering they were some my favourite things about Grave Peril. For some reason this book fell a little flat with me, though, and I didn't experience as much unbridled enjoyment as with the previous? I might say that it's because I like faeries a lot, but truly, I love demons most. So I don't know.

It had some v. emotional scenes with a certain familiar face and a certain new face; I adored all of the new characters (Shiro, Sanya, Anna, and ABOVE ALL Kincaid and the Archive); the villains are powerful and intriguing; and learning more about Johnny Marcone was probably the best thing about this for me. But I don't know, something still held me back, and I have difficulties articulating exactly what.

I love this series. James Marsters' narration makes it such an enjoyable magical noir series. This one got way sexier than the other ones and played up the dichotomy of religion and magic.

Poor Harry. Not only does his life totally suck, but he was upstaged by Michael and the other Knights! Not in the book, per se, but in my affections.

So here's the thing. I really did enjoy this book. But I am very annoyed by his non-relationship with Susan and how skanky and angsty it is. Not a good combo for me. So they had really SPOILER!!!!

better be broken up for good next book. I think they are. And I hope they are. Because I can't take it anymore!
