I wanted to like this book more that I ultimately did. The title is charming, the story sounded interesting but in the end the constant flashbacks and changing character perspectives did me in. I found it hard to follow.

This was okay. I read to the end to find out what happened but the writing style isn't my favorite and the characters felt a bit like caricatures. She does raise questions about relationships with both people and stuff but the whole thing didn't grab me.

On 12/31/1999, wealthy Faith Ann Bass, who is suffering with Alzheimer’s, decides to have a garage sale. She believes that God has told her to sell all of her possessions and thinks this will be her last day alive. She and some neighborhood kids drag all of her priceless possessions outside and she sells them for pennies. A friend of Faith‘s daughter, hears about the sale, and contacts Claudia Jean to advise that Faith is selling all of the antiques. Claudia and Faith had a falling out years earlier when Faith believed that Claudia had taken an antique ring belonging to Faith’s grandmother.
People take advantage of the bargains, while others try to stop the sale, believing Faith isn’t thinking clearly.
The author kept referring to December 31, 1999 as the last day of the millennium. This is incorrect. The last day of the millennium was December 31, 2000. This error, easily checked, dropped the book one entire star for me.

I almost didn't purchase this book because some of the reviews were so harsh. I'm so glad I tried it anyway. Yes, it is somewhat predictable, but as a reader I am not about the destination, I enjoy the getting there, and for me, this trip was worth it. It does hop back and forth, but I enjoyed that aspect, and unlike other books that have attempted the same, this wasn't difficult to follow. I found the unique perspective of not only the title character, but several others, quite intriguing and they drew me in to caring about them and their multiple plights. It was a quick weekend read that I not only didn't regret, but I enjoyed immensely.

This book was really good. The cover and the blurb in the front flap had me expecting something more humorous, but this was just a good solid story. Sad. Poignant. Yet hopeful, too.

This was a worthy but difficult read on a few levels. It is worth reading because of the insights it offers into someone who has Alzheimer's disease and the richness Rutledge is able to instill into Faith's character. The variety of the strong supporting characters is noteworthy but it is annoying to jump back into each one's memories randomly. I was sometimes eager to skim but kept reading because each of the memories enhanced the world Faith came from. This is not a book for everyone but it is a book that many will enjoy.

A debut novel that spans across the last day of Faith Bass Darling's long and complicated life. Locked in her Texas mansion of antiques, Faith Bass Darling decides to sell it all!!! Covering her front lawn with priceless treasures and money hidden in odd places, Faith questions her life and what it all meant. Enter the long banished daughter, Claudia and a story unfolds of a family torn apart by grief. Redemption and healing deem this story a worthy read.
