Couldn’t stop reading, but kept waiting for something big to happen, and for me, it never did. Got glimpses of the dystopian setting - had a lot of promise, but did not live up to the hype I’ve been seeing about it.

Definitely dystopian. Idk if they're escaping from regular life and it's struggles or heightened struggles. Like what are the wars? Perhaps there should have been more world building? Also, did not understand Andrew's character change. World building might've helped that, too. And of course "they" wanted Tom to win. He's the embodiment of what the patriarchal society rewards.
